L Rod n Dino
2 of the most talented, gracious people I have ever known
may they jam forever in that unknown space in time
where bodies are a hindrance and all you need is love
that wonderful space between cosmic ears where words
roll from the tongue onto the clouds, and cause the rain
to shower poetry upon the heads of all those still on earth
waiting
waiting for their chance to join the celestial jam
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

celestial jam

love is the tender indifference of the stars

time and chance
still time to dance
Dino my homeboy even though we never met except in no place space
we walked the streets of east baltimore a generation apart
dino with a blade in his boot and me with fear in my heart

landed in Frederick for a few days
hopin' somehow to run into wireman
it was cold outside and the city lit for xmas
small colorful boats on the canal drenched with colors
the streets full of hungry pedestrians
and I was one of them
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

poets come and go
sometimes not by choice
but rather circumstance
but their contributions linger
like cologne in the hallway of our recollection
once a poet has donated his words
to the coffers of creative expression
we will never be without them
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

stopped by his facebook page to see if I could find a picture of him I missplaced, pisses me off that I got it somewhere on this computer, but where :?: , I got at last count about 8 terabytes of data on various hard drives hooked to it. it is the one jeane_carol did of him one Christmas, I call it the wireman Santa postcard

I will keep searching for it because it is important for me to see it again

I can get by without seeing him again, but in truth, I never did "see him" in the sense of him standing before me and his presence in my field of vision as sensory data perception by my eyes

words a million like concrete blocks
dense as a fog but mark could make words dance
even I could hear the music in him
with my tin ear

life must go on
my Other is no longer here
but I am
the paradigms of Two-ness
no longer hold
but the jam continues
as it must
even as the chords change
(A-flat to D-sharp major?)
play on
brothers and sisters
play on...

life must go on
beyond the pleasure principle

my other is still here but I am not
she still loves the man I was sixty years ago
I offer her friendship
she wants romance
I am still a jerk
I can live without romance and cigarettes
but I still need a religion, which is friendship
fakebook taunts me with phantoms from my past
how many friends do you have

I am fixated on this Rodney Crowell song
It ain't over yet, you can mark my word
I don't care what you think you heard, we're still learning how to fly
It ain't over yet
...It ain't over yet, what you wanna bet
One more cigarette ain't gonna send you to the grave

It ain't over yet, you can mark my word
I don't care what you think you heard, we're still learning how to fly
It ain't over yet

Will you be at the harvest,
Among the gatherers of new fruits?

Then you must begin today to remake
Your mental and spiritual world,

And join the warriors and celebrants
Of freedom,
realisers of great dreams.

You can’t remake the world

Without remaking yourself.

Each new era begins within.
It is an inward event,

With unsuspected possibilities

For inner liberation.
We could use it to turn on
Our inward lights.

We could use it to use even the dark
And negative things positively.
We could use the new era

To clean our eyes,
To see the world differently,
To see ourselves more clearly.

Only free people can make a free world.

Infect the world with your light.

Help fulfill the golden prophecies.

Press forward the human genius.

Our future is greater than our past.

_Ben Okri_

It isn't over. until it is.

it's never over - it's always always for someone or other (won't be me, but then you get the torch)
tears lubricate, smiles radiate, silence mitigates

subliminal crimes
plant thyme
the end my friend
will come to everything
that comes together
will fall apart
whatever had a start
even the baton
will lose it's heart

life is death
accelerated by
exponential self
centred tsunami
of mess

amoeba are a sell
in a self-made
single padded cell

the horror ... the horror
