sit with me sister
meld with me in that psychic way
we'll put Jonathan Edwards on the box
sit around the shanty, get a good buzz on
and we can find that sweet middle ground
we can sail over the billboards into the sky
leave the politics with those kids we hated in high school
follow Jonathan Livingston Seagull
okay okay a little banal but you get the idea
just saying would you rather fight or dance
you know we've seen all it twice
so we know where all the bodies are buried
where all the animal traps are hidden
sit with me sister, feel my willingness
see my soul in my eyes, don't want no trouble

a bit eerie wylde...had just picked up that Leonard Cohen Cd....came in the mail as you posted the link
Also picked up the new new Neil Young with Crazy Horse, called Colorado
a fascinating compilation of songs all about the current state of civilization
even has a 13 minute ditty called She Showed Me Love
that hearkens back to my hippie daze, smoking weed and playing Vinyl
over and over and over and over again
I haven't done that for a long time I realized, Still listening to all kinds of music
but hadn't played that one piece of work over and over
until got into my DNA....it all started on a road trip
my girlfriend and I just kept it going and she felt the same way
we immersed ourselves in old Neil, let his twangy unbridled voice
pull us in, and we are still playing it, over and over
and maybe feeling a little younger by it all, lost in the old days
of communal living .....chopping veggies for dinner, the joint going 'round
the stereo on full blast as we got to know the artists intimately...............
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

neil and leonard. this year i'm more neil. the easy swing of harvest moon - a tune i'd rejected as a kid in favour of old man
music - the instant transporter from here to a borderless world

from the watchtower richie havens is freedom as I buy a ticket to the cheese museum. Old hippies never die. Even if rock & roll did. With the american pie.

To all with open minds & alms.

Even if Neil ain't young.

interesting view judih.

I have long found it difficult to supplant all the old music I lived and loved.
60s & 70s. Until the day the music died (for me) under the boot of yuppiedom & terminal disco fever.

There was a time of brief respite & glimmer when reggae breathed. But not for long.

But. More recently...besides exploring more old music I never really listened to,
I've found a few new grooves. To my own surprise.

Judih - awesome...the DVD of the visual humble but utter command of his treacle voice and demure ascendancy at that time, arrived just at the right time in my life.

new Van Morrison disc
splendorlicious Van the Man
Three Chords and Truth
come ringin' down the canal
and the happy neurons jump
like workers on Friday at the roadhouse
by the railroad tracks
and these tracks are like the old days
and these old cats know how to get it done
they have had thing down in the soul
that pulls it all together
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

there is no cure,
for the vicissitudes of mourning and melancholia,
even so, poetry is healing
the palliative joy of creation
