.

when nothing is everything
eyes leak through the sponge of skin

ethereal
marrow
of mind gnaws upon the bounty
harked up
heralded shields
cast aslide hooking
blue boned iguana
gecko sighs

lipped @ the trough of mote
swimming like a jesus lizard
breast stroking its feet

over reflected nipples of consciousness
holding unclasped
velcro moments
attached upon the appendage of baggage
left
righteously along the hilted scabbard -
points fluid without cause
and affected membrane dotted
visions of
still life moving

.

THANK you! I had so much forgotten about him and those books. I need to get them and read them again! It's been over 30 years, I think, since I read him.

My childhood world was blessed by parents that did not describe G d to me
Crazy Mike taught me that heaven or hell is right now right here

this world is only place for me on the wide world of nets
on the edge of
the milky way
facing forward
clock tick tick
ticking away

sometimes it's heaven
sometimes it's hell
sometimes I don't even know

Heaven ain't walkin'
On a street paved with gold
And hell ain't a mountain of fire
Heaven is layin'
In my sweet baby's arms
Hell is when baby ain't there

Another day in paradise where
my heroes have always been poets and cowboys
read your graphic poem and I was stunned wordless :!: :!: :!:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32522

for some reason, I thought of this:
We are born between feces and urine. —Aurelius Augustinus
My heroes have always been cowboys
And they still are, it seems
Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of
Themselves and their slow movin' dreams
Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery
From being alone too long
You could die from the cold, in the arms of a nightmare
Knowin' well that your best days are gone

the only books my dad ever had were Zane Grey paperbacks
later I would read Edward Abbey's The Brave Cowboy, and more
his adventures in the desert made me want to visit those places
Also got into L'amour and McMurtry ....still love westerns on tv
grew up with Wagon Train, Maverick, Bonanza, The Rifleman
Loved 'em all

When I was a kid, "Maverick" was the highlight of our Sunday nights - it was the only night the whole family would set up trays and eat supper gathered around the tv. I also liked "Rawhide" and, much later, "Branded" & "The Guns of Will Sonnet".

For reading, I was more into juvenile sci-fi. I never got into Tom Swift, but devoured the Rick Brant series. They were more believable than the space operas - no jetting around the cosmos in spaceships, the stories were all set here on earth, centered around plausible technologies and the evil-doers who either wanted to steal them or use them for nefarious ends. I remember two in particular - "Sea Gold", about a start-up firm extracting dissolved minerals from sea water; and "The Whispering Box", a device invented by the bad guys for incapacitating people with a burst of ultrasonic energy. There were many others. Christmases were merry indeed if there were one or two of the newest tales awaiting me under the tree...

another day
another movie
I watch my life unfold on a screen behind my eyes and i wonder who the scriptwriter is, today I think it is Vonnegut
sometimes when I think of my dear old dad I think of Edgar Allen Poe and a telltale
heart
and the putrid smell of dead rats
Little Dog Reddy at Home
the thrill of reading my first book

Crazy Mike spared me Hebrew school, but still indoctrinated me into the unholy trinity of ego, id, and superego
the neurotic erotic and guilt
and I knew I had to rise above it all and drown in my own shit
wireman wireman mi amigo
why did you have to go
so now i must go too
go going gone
I am alive and I never want to die
jam to the limit jam to the sky
high on the spiritu et tu of you''

whoa what was that
a moan a groan of the meat machine
Crazy Mike always watched Paladin Have Gun will travell
It was the knight on his holster that got his attention
we had a hand to mouth existence because he was a gambling addict he gambled to lose, some guilt he had to punish himself for,
it was chess that save him,,, from that guilt, he became a grandmaster played Bobby Fischer to a draw
to this day i am nauseous with fear when I try to play chess
my father who is dead
thank you for bringing me into my mother and this world
amor fati

sunday nights were for bonanza
little joe, adam, hoss, and the ponderosa
hop sing the cook
some shows were life vs death
and others were straight up comedy
running gags, and hoss always being hungry
and perhaps a little slower than the rest
three brothers that looked nothing like each other
and lorne green with all that wisdom
sunday nights were always a bonanza
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Baltimore circa 1944 a house on the corner of Eastern Avenue and Caroline Street
"I'll be damned he said with amazement The Universe disposes of its own evil." Dr Sax
been thinking about that book for a couple of years, you know the way he described the way the asphalt wrinkled in front of the house he lived in Lowell.

The cobblestones on caroline street
the blackout curtains during the war
the news from Europe on the big floor model radio
the way the vacuum tubes gave off a warm glow against the wall
the woodstove in my grandmothers living room the light flickering on the ceiling
the candles being lit at sundown
me safe under her wing

and all the evil in the world was in Germany and Japan and I was a real live nephew of my uncle sam born on . . . .
When Jimi plays the Oh Can You see
tears in my eyes for this land that sheltered my family in their time of need
lives there a man with soul so dead

Henry Miller comes to me and says let it be let it be
