it is the oldest dilemma going 'round....

there are many grayish greens and silver blues

getting to be a habit
eyes pop open, mind
begins to rumble
legs only stumble
down the hall to the bathroom

thank god I don't have to go
out to the outhouse
where it's cold and there are spiders
that would love to bite my ass,
indoor plumbing is under-rated
I mean how many times this week
have you been thankful for it,
we just take it for granted
and most all of our ancestors
did just that, went outside the house
half asleep to let spiders bite their ass
again and again, though some were probably
pretty good at doing a sweep of the place
a spider-check, and a little combat
some mornings
I admire their courage and fortitude
Me ?.....I'm grateful
especially when you're old and the spiders
are just waiting for a weak moment from you
to gobble up your ass
