wireman started it
and it ain't gonna stop
as long as us old timers
are still kickin
perpetual jam is just that
eternally chuggin
into the future, jammin
along the tracks
with wisdom and determination
a humble trek for seasoned mariners
old tars with wrinkled faces
and salty eyes that see words
in the sky, experienced scribes
in a groovy niche
so put on that old vinyl
let it spin with all the hisses and pops
music is also a perpetual jam
music and words, adlibbed or memorized
doesn't matter, words, words, words
each entry a part of someone
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

oh, the vinyl jam
start the turntable
set the tone arm down
gently
and wait -
the hiss
the arm bobs up and down
like a rowboat tied to a pier
until the groove pulls it in
and then
the groove begins
those opening chords
colors
textures
sounds
the likes of which
that room had never beheld
you settle yourself
in the chair
with the album jacket
and a doob
you inhale the magic
you read the metastory
of what your ears are processing
and lose yourself
in the sonic garden

walking every morning
before the blaze settles upon the city
we broke the record for consecutive days over 90
imagine that, all that recorded history
pushed to the back
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

clear morning
gonna make my first post surgery trek
to the Gunpowder today
won't hike much, just pull up my camp stool
and stare at the river
gonna run by Zeke's for a carry out lunch
order on line and pay, and swing by the curb
where a masked employee throws my sandwich
in the backseat....then off i go
to see, to hear, to feel the river
been a month and a half since heart attack
today my heart will get a little better
its the river jam....hearty healthy and strong
she'll be a little muddy today
but i won't hold that against her
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

morning walk
gardens are beaming
with love and color
and homeowners with more
free time to beautify
sure makes my morning stroll
feel like a guided tour
better homes and gardens
right here in the hood
i take photos, linger
see rabbits and birds
get in my exercise
need to remind my heart and lungs
what to do
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

egg salad sandwich
breakfast before rehab
just started driving my car again
it's like riding a bike
you just hop in, turn the key
and it all comes back in seconds
freedom of a sort, go when you need to
this little blue machine
that sits out front by the curb
waits for you to push the remote control
pop the locks, so easy, you slide in
fire her up, push down on the accelerator
wish i had a healing accelerator
I tend to be impatient when mobility
is restricted, but at least I have this metal box
with four wheels and a radio to jam on down the road
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

driving home as usual
dirt road
rooster tail of dust
trailing behind me
and something else
red car
coming up fast
REAL fast
someone in a rush
I thought
to get home...
someone in a rush
apparently
to read my inspection sticker...
bumper to bumper
slewing side to side
falling back
pulling up
just kids I thought
out to raise a little hell
they'll turn off
I thought
at the Deland Rd settlement
but they didn't
still on my tail
surging, swerving
posturing
like a chimpanzee
displaying dominance
three miles later
I turn onto my road
so do they
we drive past my house
top of the hill
we turn again
getting scared now
heart starting to hammer
road paved here, with houses
so their pursuit is less overt
but no less real
so I decide
to lead them into a trap
I lock my doors
shut my windows
and turn again by the lake
signalling to make sure they follow
and four long miles later
we arrive
at the police station
where I lay on the horn
and watch them stop
and back out
and continue up the hill
to the common
I go home by a different route
hide the car
lock the door
and load the gun
unchambered
but ready
just in case....

I'll admit it, I was a little frightened. But it all worked out in the end.

my earth knows not of what you speak
yet the moon
shall soon be populated
with those dreaming of mars
space faring monkeys
one and all
There is no empty space

beats me too of what I speak 8)
i am just blowing bubbles of electromagnetic waves like a protective cocoon around the earth to protect if from space lizards who want to eat our lunch.

Space faring monkeys on Mar's
Make your reservation for Mar's-a-Lago
but i think the lizards will get their first

wavicle words
electromagnetic waves of words
symbols, cyber bits and bytes, photons, retinas, nerves, brains, and fingers.

Children of a broken world. I have seen the world broken so many times. heard a politician say the Arc of human(monkey) Society culture points ever upward even if it seems as if as if it is more like a crazy clock work that keeps repeating the same patterns.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.
