well, im a virginia boy

Post by sonofthesun » November 24th, 2010, 1:49 am

well, im a virginia boy
brought up on kindness and respect
not sure how that relates to currency
but i know,
within wisdom,
gold is worthless
and paper is dead trees
not givin me oxygen
so what are you gonna do
follow the death of that which birthed you
or become a warrior of the infinite
its a simple question
no one seems to ask themself
its a simple deliniation
passed up on the wayside
while fear of death runs rampant
and flowers lay unpolinated
There is no empty space

"White Mansions"
Oh yes I love gospel music
Oh yes southern boy
by the grace of the infinite goof
Virginia boys
sons of the mother of presidents
I want to be a warrior no more
just a citizen soldier
a grunt like I was from Cincinnati
lay down my sword
ain't going to study war no more

Southern gentlemen we never discuss religion or politics in polite company

a simple question I ask myself
if there is a world without warriors
would there be a world without war

The three pound universe within my skull
is as infinite as the universe outside my skull
or is the only infinite human stupidity

Texas was going to be "the wild flower state"
on license plates
till the boys in Austin decided it was not macho enough

to be a warrior
need not neccesitate "war",
mindless bloodshed.
only strident measures to facilitate...
something.
a place for all
regardless of race
color creed age or species.
let us all live without the shackles
"man" has placed on us all
to scream
"fuck this nonsense"
my mind cares not for your baubles
i am a being of substance
only in need of physical subsistence
and the occasional energetic mind play
bound with love and acceptance

not sure if the whole thing is a poem....could be the last five lines entitled fuck this nonsense.

I wrote that after reading my local newspaper's homage to a dead 19 year old war hero.

Sorry for the rant

Yes nonsense
but war makes such good cent$
**My personal imagining, that if the dead do see this world it would be to them strange and meaningless

If only the living could see how strange and meaningless it is.

I really like the song "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny" and I think they could replace all of the "darky" references and so on to: ie.

"Carry me back to old Virginny,
There's where my old lonesome heart
A- longs to go,
There's where the birds sing so sweet in the springtime,
Where I long to sit & to watch the James River flow..."

Or words to that effect... I have seen bills where they
introduced ways to rehab the song to modern times.,.
It really is a sweet old song, even though it has references
To slavery and massa. However, think of when it was written...
