sorry been scarce
landlord has put me to work
all round handyman's helper
doing things i don't know nothing about
good thing the other guy knows what he's doin -
Nancy got laid off - big surprise that
put me into a mad scramble for work
- immediate work -
and there goes my "retirement"
- didn't figure to last anyway the way things are -
damn war the way things are -
guess maybe it always was -
beautiful riding days the last week
but i only get out in the moonlight
every light on the bike flashing away
- riding the lightning -
(maybe Welch had the right idea) 8)

wanting to lay it down
go to ground
pop up again & go HEY!
age takes dead on aim
nothin' escapes that
you can wake up full of memories
but nothin' warm to hold
i may be out on the rim
but i'm seeking the core
cuz even silence
has a rhythm
chickens cripple my inner fictions
brilliant with dwindle
the mind is a river
the mind is a creek
a glistening mixture
infant wife kingdoms
slimmer pilgrims with pistols
drifting toward playfulness
3:14 a.m.

ya can't speak too evil of money
it's greed that's the evil
but money not only helps things along
but brings things to light
even sometimes gives those things
room to grow
makes connections -
like r. crumb points out here
profit was the motive
but that motive took the blues out of the delta
& other places before we were born
and gave it a place in people's spirits
from where it touched everything
- hell yeah, mongolia
i'm digging this new thread too
suppose a thread is a thread
but shit happens when things
are changed up sometimes -
besides the title is sideways wild
- gotta roll - in the high 80's past few days
makes past winter seem like it never was
hell, i almost wanna complain about
the heat 8)

i was helping a friend
frame a shed when he asked me
if i had heard that B.B
had walked on from this world
no i said as we raised up a wall
and nailed it into place
later as i passed an Amish cut 2x4
up to the roof my friend said
B.B. was 89 yrs old
i just said goodbye B.B.
