rain all night
rain at dawn
rhythms of water & earth
ya don 't find this kind of thing on Mars
soon you'll be rocking that ham can
and the air itself will carry
those vibrations

listening to the killdeers
going at it with the beginning of the day
they almost make me ashamed
to be sitting here typing
with my coffee cup beside me
but I have nothing else in mind to do
so I'm going to go on
enjoying myself
and to hell with the birds

yesterday afternoon
osprey overhead
between me & the sun
squirrel in its talons
it's shadow passing on the ground
showed only the outline of the osprey
that sight stayed with me
the rest of the day
it was with me when
i woke this morning
now i'm thinking
of kerouac's haiku's

a fox with a
bunny wriggling
in it's mouth
ran out in front
of my truck
while i was
riding thru the
manasass battlefield
still a vivid memory
old jack writing
haikoo's in his rooftop
shack in mexico city
blowin' like a bluesman
improvising words as
if it were a sunday
jazz jam
slow rising morn
tequila early yesterday
made me lazy
read some stonehouse
gonna delve into some
kerouac today
see what happens
brunch in an hour
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

out hunting 'ku this afternoon
beautiful day to be on a bike on a 'ku hunt
i was held up by a train
at the crossing
a long train
every car decorated with graffiti
from hands unknown to me
drop dead gorgeous creations
every car
every car
a rolling art show on loud steel wheels
and i got to see it pass in front of me
for free -
when the last car disappeared from my sight
i was full of words then
laid the bike down
sat on the tracks
and began to write them
in my 'ku book -

this is what they said :

crossing larval midnights
grandfathers & other children
filthy with rhythm
moan jazz incantations
copulate with their own imaginations
and journey in meaningless directions
every horizon obscene with existence
grandfathers answering a call to be holy
children learning the ways of spider & fox
cloud & sun
silence & sound
becoming the new native americans
in the long medicine nights
hotrod amnesiac archangels roaring in their ears
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

- April 'bout shot anyway*

i am on sidereal daytime savings time
but an hour ain't enough cause i am not going to make it past march
i need to set my calander forward a month
after tax time
if i can make it till april 18 I am taking a month off and taking a long long long did i say long bike ride
meanwhile I ride everychance i got even in pneumonia weather

what reassures me in times like these is that
homeboy paid for perpetual care of crazy mikes grave in Workeman's Circle cemetary on german town road back in dundalk
