a version of baseball
is back on Friday, no fans
no hot dogs, no beer
a strange facsimile for sure
a sixty game season
of only the dugouts cheering
will the umps wear masks
I don't know, who cares
it's baseball, and we need it
play ball !
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

(can feel every cobble underfoot)
overdue for a dental visit
(I floss & brush daily, but...)
they say it's ok now
they say all precautions are being taken
they say it's time to saddle up
...
but who the fuck
are They?

It beats me who they are. Some of them are mammals I think?
I don't believe any of them until I hear the first denial
remember when , "He's Got the Whole world in his hands," used to be a song
I like watching their hand gestures while they are telling us how great things are going.
I been seeing this one a lot

Primates, even, with opposable thumbs. I've heard some are even capable of tool use, using sticks to fish termites out of their nests.

I think you misspelled "stupid"

Even had an unfriendly encounter with one of them, several weeks ago. I was cruising the aisles at Market Basket on my weekly supply run, wearing my mask and following the one-way arrows, and met a fellow about my age coming the other way. No mask. I've occasionally forgotten to adhere to the one-way directive, but when we both met by a pallet partly blocking the lane, he veered over to my side and kept coming, forcing me to back up & bump into the cart behind me. I was a trifle irked and commented "You're going the wrong way." He didn't even look at me. Just passed by and said, "This is America. I can do what I want."

Good to know, I thought, because right now I want to break your fucking nose. But all I said was "Thanks for not giving a shit," shutting off my mouth before "asshole" came out - the scene was ugly enough without it.

The irony is that I'd submitted a short story a few weeks before that to local writers' collective that's publishing a book, and in it the central character has a similar encounter. Until it happened to me ("Dear Penthouse..."), I'd wondered if it was little over the top.

these yoyos pick and choose
where to make their stands
don't here much defiance about smoking indoors
even though it's America, not much resistance
about wearing a seat belt, they seem to get in line about
No shirt No shoes No service
but this mask thing is where they draw the line
something that will help prevent death
and flatten the curve, well fuck that
this here is America, and no one is gonna tell them what to do
now it seems to me, they have been rather cowardly
about defying the other things I mentioned, so why
the masks....with a mask on they're provided a bit of anonymity
yet still this is a bridge too far
this is America, and in America you are allowed to steal
if you are a corporation
and you don't even need a mask
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yes this is amerika and I just got off the boat. Many refugees in my family from Europe during world war 1 and world war 2. They use to say "just got off the boat" when speaking about new arrivals who had no idea yet that the streets were not paved with gold.
Where are the patriots from Bundy standoff? You would think they would be protesting jack booted federal troops in Portland.

I need a beer,
corona corona
I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
But I ain't a-got Corona
Life don't mean a thing.

baseball without fans
the new normal with cardboard people
and piped in cheers
you can hear the pop in the mitt
how will they head off the inevitable cursing
of the umpire.......7 second delay ?
the baseball jam, a new curve ball
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

perhaps El Presidente
could take a cue from this -
people his rallies
with cutouts and mannequins
piped in applause, canned laughter...
as a bonus
it could increase
the net IQ
within the stadium

14 Miami Marlins tested positive
this is the first week of baseball
not a good way to begin this shortened season
so games are canceled in Miami
against the Orioles, but also in Philadelphia
where the Marlins just played
it's like a line of dominoes
just need one little push
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

just home
40 minute walk
my longest without a break
sun coming up
above the trees and houses
huffin' and puffin'
an old steam engine
that thinks it can crest another hill
whoo whoo
rusty wheels turn
true as morning light
i see the front porch
I'm going to make it
iced coffee all ready to go
off come the boots, the socks
turn on Studio 8
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Corana Corana
Life don't mean a thing
Even so it is a gift I am grateful to have
In the meantimes:
I can make about 50 feet, from my back door to little sister's front door. I have to sit down when I get there. Surgery is not an option for me given my age and condition. I am going to have to fix it myself. AMA,
in the mean time
Life is good, I found silent woman again on studio eight.

I got a high threshold for boredom and cabin fever thanks to studio eight

Yes, yes
the sun doesn't care
and I am grateful for its tender indifference.
so lets keep jamming my friends

As if that blind rage had washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first time, in that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world. . .Camus
