melodic drama

she is like wine, like
a black-eyed medusa
her eyes dart
a thousand taunts

nerves quiver like aspens;
the masked knight enters
the flickering screen
with a dashing blade: bright
slashes in sobbing black pulp

we soak in the story
as rich as a
slurping melody

the floury dust of our breaths
puverizes us
to melodrama

She is like wine
pale as melodramatic moon-flour
red as romance-novel lip-lust
bubbly as super-pressure schedule-keepers
blush as lovers chancing their truths
sweet as soldier-come-home reunions
dry as desert asceticism
wet as self-provided sweat refreshment
She is like a cup that overflows
that we bless
that settles the stomach
that buzzes the evening
that leads to no headaches for breakfast
and is welcomed again and again.
