Too far gone behind

Kidnapped
by whirlywinds,
i focus on
the fast ride,
lean dangerously
into deadman's
curves,
abject trust,
in the upswings.
Those old fairy tales
are marvelously tame,
compared to the ones
i'm living now.

Knights of greed
on stolen white horses.
King's demand hearts,
served up,
on silver platters;
Seasoned heavily,
in gamey
garlic blood,
fetched fresh,
out of
well-tilled
paper gardens.

Short haired
rapunzels
gather
bamboozled,
act out freedom,
beyond our
lonely, lovely,
original towers,
tragically declared
empty long ago,
now,
too far gone behind.

Whirlywinds
and swirlygigs
and nursery rhymes
of pleasure

Fairytales
and old wive's tales
all tie-dyed together

Once upon a naked time
I danced with knaves
and kings
I never wasted any thoughts
on consequential things
I nibbled on a toadstool tripe
and flew on crowlike wings

But now...
now I live in modern times
where woman's lot is sweeter
Kind of makes
you make believe
in Tinkerbell and Peter

Well that old pig's eye
is aimed at me
and laughs as I knew it would
Oh there's no fool
like a hopeful fool
so lettuce sink
or swim
together

the tower like a fortress
unattainable as her tresses
have been shorn....
free flight will relieve her
lonesome ways...............
