I stole a candybar
sweet delight
don't remember the brand

I've felt guilty all my life

the caricature of me
was drawn
with skull and crossbones
on the sleeve
when turning the page
my heart was ripped open
and the cartoon
began to bleed

this is a vain caricature of me
and I never lie

Caterpillar blood
the pretty skull that held the poetry
is gone
the face lingers.

and shattered my composure
a simple smile
ragged jagged lines
of deceit
Awe inspired inscriptions
stuffed in every corner
delighted the audience
of one
Noting the discrepancy
I wallowed away
in the grief
of realization

wonderland

Ride the ego trip
I am up
I am down

I keep a dirty mirror
I Have not cleaned it in years
Hardly notice the age in my hair
The gray in my eyes
I have no lunar clock
So nothing ever changes for me
Still young after all these years
Still vain as ever

I live in the greatest wonderland of all
It is Called The United States of America
Here everything is just peachy
Consumer confidence is high
We are making the world safe for democracy
aint that swell




I feel a jagged shard of glass pass through my heart.
An audience of one with one lip flapping
and one hand clapping

unlike my conscience
a little vinegar and water
lends a pristeen glow
so I dunk my head
but of course you know
the rest of the story

looking in the looking glass
I saw a world of wonder
I reached out
to feel if it was real
it was naught
