searching for a sign

Post by mtmynd » November 27th, 2008, 11:54 am

a serpent tongue wriggles
and it goes by many names
conferring lies upon the truths
stealing promises without the blame

imagine what life would be like
without all the insane lies
the many deceits and floods of theft
one day will surely wither and die

but 'til that time we continue
putting up with all those crimes
that steal away our faith and hope
while we keep searching for a sign

'The unexamined life is not worth living'.. who said that.. Socrates, maybe? Anyway, this human affinity for self-inflicted misery makes no sense on the face of it. Who knows all of the reasons? It does seem that blind allegiance or attachment to powerful symbols enable the highest crimes. It has been a strange trip these last eight years trying to urge conservatives to open their eyes to (and reject) the dangerous, virulent dogma and high crimes and misdirection of neo-conservatives, for example, when corporate media have so successfully polarized and smashed down everything into uber-duality.. Left vs. Right.. Good vs. Evil.. Us vs. Them.. and on and on..

Or.. so I like to pon-ti-fi-cate.. My theories of the world are only one piece of the puzzle, of course..

While we keep searchin for a sign....

I love this. It has reminded me of what I have been searching for, things having gotten so bad I forgot.
Which is just what that serpent wants I bet....
Nice write MT, as per usual

the Dor'... and you're correct - i don't often rhyme but do find an occasional rhyme worth my time... not to mention i sang this piece while i wrote it!
_______

ahh, mnaz, amigo, you wrote: "when corporate media have so successfully polarized and smashed down everything into uber-duality.. Left vs. Right.. Good vs. Evil.. Us vs. Them.. and on and on.. "

yes, uber-duality, akin to hyper-duality, but the thing is, despite what our wants may be and how wonderful the personal should be, it is duality on any and all levels, that tear us apart in the end, leaving those behind to continue dueling with duality - seven paces forward and one shot back, if you please, sir. bang! dead again, he drops to the womb of the earth from where that shell of 32 years carried him until that one shot was delivered to it's fleshly target. ahmen.
_______

Hester, my singing friend! Pilgrims we are, we all are, searching form that elusive tomorrow in hopes that our dreams will come true only to find that tomorrow will always contain the dream as long as we continue to search for that that is right here in our faces each and everyday... we are so blinded by our ego at times that the serpent rattle it's tail and scares the begeezus outta our minds and then when fear is gone, we find the search over, even for a moment, but long enough to know it's real... it's so fucking real that we can hardly wait to indulge in that promise like madmen starving for the goodness that has been hiding from ourselves until now sprouted it's wings and sent is aroma unto thy wholly lives. (gracious, he sighed... :))

fear
we invite it in
it kicks us in the shin
we call it sensible
it calls us silly
we lie about it
it lies to us
we defend it
it hurts us
we give it power
it makes us weak
