illustrator needed

Post by justwalt » February 5th, 2009, 6:18 pm

Here's a story poem that needs a book
It was something I started ten years ago
and finally finished it. It may need rearranging,
does need editing, maybe simpler words, but
if someone thinks it's worth a try, I want
nothing. just thought it is worth a try.

never wake a dreamer

A very long-long, long-long time ago,
in the mystic land called Caravan-
near a little village called Calico,
there lived a very happy little man-

He went by the name of Mister Green,
and he liked to speak in rhyme-
being a man who believed in dreams,
he would dream them all the time-

Mister Green dreamed of wonderful things,
and he loved everything about them-
his favorite ones were of flyimg machines,
which he dreamed over and over again-

Mister Green learned things from his dreams,
just as surely as any dreamer could-
so he began to build his dreamed machines,
though it seemed they wouldn't fly so good-

Now, Mister Green lived on Far-away Hill,
which overlooked the near-by town-
and he shared his home with Billywill,
a strayed yellow cat who's tail curled round-

His house was old and in need of repair,
but Mister Green didn't seem to mind-
he was happy just to breath the air,
and to sit in the sun where it shined-

He was quite content with the simple life,
and he managed pretty well on his own-
though some nights he dreamed of a pretty wife,
but he had no real reason to gripe or moan-

Yes, Mister Green saw everything as just fine,
there was alwaws a reason to wear a smile-
he knew that good things always come in time,
and waiting for them was his kind of style-

Besides, Billywill was always with him there,
they walked everywhere together all the day-
the two of them made a quite natural pair,
they loved to jump and run as a game to play-

Now, Billywill was not just an average cat,
you see, he had a little giggle when he walked-
but also, and even more amazing than that,
was a funny little wiggle he had when he talked-

Surprised, at first, when seen by Mister Green,
he had never before heard a cat say a word-
and when he walked and talked, oh, what a scene,
just a talking wiggly blur of giggly yellow fur-

Now, Billywill, with his silly grin and gaze,
was born and then raised in a fanciful jungle-
there is where he learnd the talking cat ways,
things of truth, of happiness, and how to be humble-

But as a wondering cat, he had ideas to be sought,
so with his curiosity and faith he decided to roam-
he traveled far and wide, contending with thought,
until he came upon Katie, a fine maid, in a fine home-

Lady Katie was a very wise and a knowing young miss,
having being visited by many seekers in these land-
she offered Billywill some wisdom, tea and a kiss,
and sang stories of ledgends and dreams oh, so grand-

Billywill's eyes grew wider as he listened to her,
he asked where may he find these kinds of things-
which way is the way to where these wonders occur,
and how shall I know what's inside of thses dreams-

Katie just smiled and took Billywill by the paw,
and told him true, of where and which way to pursue-
she pointed away, to the high mountain, and he saw,
the dreamer is there, said she, with his smiles a clue-

So this is the way Billywill found Mister Green,
and how the two of them had become such good friends-
their tale has more to tell than what you have seen,
there is more to be said in the meaning that it lends-

You see, Billywill learned how to dream and smile wide,
he dreamed fabulous dreams of every kind of things-
and Mister Green learned to listen to the animals side-
how to hear their wisdoms and feel the joy it brings-

Together they worked hard on a new flying machine,
it was finished later that night and ready to fly-
but evening had come, bringing the time for dreams,
they'd have to wait for the morning's light to try-

As they both fell asleep, they dreamed of the skies,
they flew up and around in their machine with a whirl-
beyond the clouds and stars, much to their surprise,
they flew way up so high, they could see the whole world-

I would take credit for the write, but I do not need to
profit from sales, would rather see someone, (children) enjoy
I should have had my mother illustrate it years ago, now
she has lost steady control of her hands...
If I put more time into this, I could write a bunch more
ambition is not a priority at the moment, started it years
ago, and just found it and finished

I loved this poem. It is a poem even an old Norwegian Bachelor Farmer can enjoy.

I like your business model too.

I would take credit for the write, but I do not need to
profit from sales, would rather see someone, (children) enjoy
I should have had my mother illustrate it years ago, now

If I put more time into this, I could write a bunch more
ambition is not a priority at the moment, started it years

My pipe dream for your book would be illustrated by SmileGrl, Doreen Peri, Arcadia, ...
So many names come to mind Panta Rhei, Cecil, Artguy, Abstroint, Mingo, Jimboloco, judih...

I would like to take a stab at it too.

Doreen loves to assemble things, it would make a great studio eight community project. I would buy one for my grand kids.
