I was reading an article yesterday where Latinos that were not Mexicans had no use for the celebration and wondered why the big deal in America. I never thought of that before...
Why is it..
Cinco de Mayo... the day in 1862 when Mexican forces defeated the French army in Pueblo, Mexico. Hell, who in their right mind wouldn't have a need to celebrate that day!

cecil, this is a zen comic strip, or animation if i've ever seen one (and i've seen a lot!)That about sums it up for me... folds into a nice little origami swan that fits without a bulge in my mental rucksack as I wander down the holy backroads whistling Morrison's Astral Weeks one song at a time until I come to rest on the banks of my consciousness and pull the swan out and let 'er float, man, let 'er float downstream in that slipstream... the methodology of an Astral Hobo to excrete the chaos from the calm.

I have never seen the show except for that scrolling banner on Hulu. I remember Studio Eight put on a cabaradio show at the Beyond The Fringe festival in D.C.
First time I heard that line was at a song writer's night in Music City USA. A cat name Zilch Fletcher sang it.
And a woman name of Anne Romaine sang a song. .
called Tailored Made Woman
about a waitress waiting on tables
waiting for the tables t turn.
What is it about spontaneity?
