though i speak with the tongue of angels
how can freedom exist
within this duality
some are free to live
others to die
a cost effective democracy
hard to reconcile freedom
against crushing realities
am i less worthy of life
than a richer man
is my health to be another
product i can't afford
life, liberty, pursuit of happiness,
but the greatest of these is life
yea, though i speak
with the tongue of angels
if i have not money,
i will not be heard
within this duality
some are free to live
others to die
a cost effective democracy
hard to reconcile freedom
against crushing realities
am i less worthy of life
than a richer man
is my health to be another
product i can't afford
life, liberty, pursuit of happiness,
but the greatest of these is life
yea, though i speak
with the tongue of angels
if i have not money,
i will not be heard

I think it has always sucked.
Maybe more now but even so
Some people write about the golden age the good old days
Of Woodrow Wilson say
And his 14 points
Yeah tell me another fairy tale
Yes the good old days
When we went to war to make the world safe for J P Morgan and company.
People have no memory
These are my good old days
Maybe more now but even so

it is the best of times
and the worst of times
Some things have changed for the better
Some for the worse
Technology is going to doom us or save us.
Free us or enslave us
Maybe it already has.
Hitler the first one to use technology to control the masses, i.e. radio.
It is interesting to me that Goebbels kept a couple of books by Freud's nephew on his shelf.
Edward Bernays, the father of public relations.
Bernays learned a lot from his uncle
How to use unconscious fears and desires to manipulate the herd.
The Century of The Self
I am part of the herd too
Hard to free myself from the trance of culture.

That link is the first part of a four part series from BBC on how
those in power use the primitive forces within human beings to manipulate the masses.
How those in power have used Freud's theory\ies to control the dangerous crowd in the age of mass democracy.
Talk radio is harmless, just words Rush Limbaugh says.

later
I am not sure it helps to understand how it is done.
Is there any benefit to making unconscious misery conscious? It is for me. But you already know I am bat shit crazy. I would rather be aware than happy. That is my pursuit.
Such an evil looking old man. Bernays I mean not Goebbels. Goebbels was funny looking.
you said it all in the poem
and this is chit chat
I like chit chat
Me and Gertrude do it all the time.
