One step at a time. I liked Jack's link about the new plan for educating, healing, renewing and reviving a handful of inner city children. More people like that in this world would only establish more hope and an easier vision for more peace in the future. Not saying I'm on the boat that world peace is possible, but I'd believe healing can lead us to healthier corners of the world and more peace than exists at the moment. The article definitely bumped a little hope in my reckless mind.

Anyway, I'm raising mine to be individualist. People are people and each an individual, each with their own set of actions, consequences, healing abilities or hazardous commotion and each to be weighed by what 'fruit' they produce or 'poison'... If my children grow to see all people as people whom are individual, to share their fruits or toss out their poisons, than I feel I've raised them well.

Thank you Doreen and Arcadia or anyone listening to my mind babbling, too.
I'm glad you could allow my voice a little stretchy room.

little mischievous darling!

Hes' -

More children, going off to fight.....soon.......
More testosterone going off to fight.

I wonder if these young folks are doing it for the country or for a job in a sucky economy... or even because they're angry and want to kill and destroy things. But war has always relied upon the young on the battlefront, mostly because they are the one's described in one way or the other.

And then there are the George Bushes and his administration, there's Barrack Obama and so many other politicos over the years that have never served the country they are supposedly speaking up for, which is peculiar as to how they achieved their political status. I gotta ask the voters, I reckon.

Good luck to them all and may they do the job they hired on to do to the best of their ability. I can't forget they volunteered, unlike my era with Viet Nam... the only volunteering was which branch to join if you didn't want front line battle in VN.

mnaz I may owe you an apolgy. I apologized on the other thread I will do so again here. Sorry about all the "hazardous commotion"

btw, I basically agree with what both Doreen and Barry are saying, in most respects at least. If war, or any phenomenon for that matter, is simply taken as inevitable, it will indeed be inevitable. And yes, there will always be people out there who want to "fuck up your shit." What I'm less certain about is the link between people who want to "fuck up your shit" and perpetual large scale war. The potential need to take up arms in collective "self-defense" remains a real-world concern, but I also believe in human evolution, and the need to learn from past mistakes, and I'm far less certain about war as an effective agent of reform and spreading ideology. And the world is filled with injustice. Always has been. No human effort could right every wrong by means of military force alone. I suppose I'm not an absolute pacifist in the sense that I stop short of saying military force has absolutely no place at this point in human evolution, but we are definitely to a point where the unquestioned inevitability and glorification of war should diminish, and it should be more truly a last resort.
and I replied
Nazz I am an absolute pacifist in my own life. It is a luxury I know but I hope the world can afford a few nut cases like me.

Man you really want to understand. You really want to pin it down.
It could be the pipe line, but I think it is more than that. I do not think you are ever going to pin it down to one reason, one motive. Human behavior is always over determined.

You believe in human evolution?

Well I gave up on the idea of progress. But I do believe in cultural evolution. It changes a hell of a lot faster than our biology.
Cro-Magnon killers and testosterone
Why I called you on that is I don't believe we have evolved much in the last couple of hundred thousand years. Or at least the past fifty thousand years or so since our first artist/killer cro-magnon ancestors painted those pictures in the cave. Barbara Ehrenreich makes a good point about natural selection favoring the murderous. We still got the same dam nervous system. Other than dumping Atrazine and other endocrine disrupters into our water — chemicals that are causing the feminization of male frogs — we are not evolving much biologically these days. Maybe in a thousand years human beings will come into this world in more interesting shapes and colors and with less murderous impulses. first the froggies than us.

I wondered if you were saying we will evolve our way out of war. I am not much on logic but I think it is possible that evolution may not have a goal for us. Are we the crown of creation? We are sure messing with our chromosomes with all the stuff we are putting into our food and water. Am I making any sense here. Sorry I am on a typing jag.

Yes I believe in evolution, and evolution has its dead ends. We may be another. That is a hell of a thing to say to a roomfull of parents. I am childless, I have not been fruitful. I leave no hostages to the future. I confuse my own demise with the end of the human race.

More Atrazine please. After us comes what? Feminized men with less testosterone to fuck up other peoples shit? Less aggression among males.

ramble ramble
I may have a point.

I apologize to you again for taking you too literally.
You were probably refering to cultural evolution not biological

you said
Yes we learn from our mistakes.

Does nature learn from mistakes? I wonder.

We have not had a large scale war in over sixty years. I suppose we have learned that much.
And only the occasional genocide with only a few hundred thousand killed here and there. :( I guess that is progress too.

How about the The inevitability of patriarchy?
Where are the women in all of this? That is why I believe the only revolution that matters is the women's revolution.
Revolutionary new colors for lipsticks and cosmetics?
