ok... think I got it done...

.
.
.
Cheat the Hangman- Shack Shakers-- (psychopunkbillyfrenzy)
Rumspringa- Scotch Greens-- (punk 'n banjo-- "rumspringa" is apparently that Amish-youth-try-out-the-world-and-see-if-they-want-to-leave thing)..
Beer-thirty- Horton Heat-- (classic rockabilly swing, and Jim burnin' up the fretboard of course)
Goo Goo Muck- Cramps-- (psychobilly band does '60's surf stylie)
I'm Not Here- Meat Puppets-- (cowpunkabilly workout)
Cool Breeze on the Rocks- De La Soul-- (samples/segue)
Overkill- Motorhead-- (punkmetal grind, overly theatric, as the name implies)
The Once Over Twice- X-- (Seminal LA punk-- "a song about men"--Exene)
Pills I Took- Hank III-- (twisted authentic country)
Things You Do to Me- Hank III-- (authentic twisted country)
Smoke Along the Track- Dwight Yoakam-- (Like Buck Owens mighta penned)
More Calexico... (more cactus and adobe echoes)..

I changed the ending again!

So, it goes...

Si Tu Disais- Calexico
Broke, Lovesick & Driftin'- Hank III
Cyanide Breath Mint- Beck
Clap Hands- Tom Waits
Fallin' Ditch/Steal Softly- Beefheart
Bible Cyst/Cheat the Hangman- Shack Shakers
Rumspringa- Scotch Greens
Beer-thirty- Horton Heat
Goo Goo Muck- Cramps
I'n Not Here- Meat Puppets
Cool Breeze on the Rocks- De La Soul
Bar X, the Rocking M- Melvins (heavy metal trombone, like a ska nightmare)
Stay Clean- Motorhead (punkmetal grind)
Pills I Took/Thunderstorms & Neon- Hank III (well...)
Sunken Waltz/Drenched- Calexico (homeless waltz & the 2nd coming of E. Morricone)
Fine di una Spia- Ennio Morricone (the 1st coming.. from Good/Bad/Ugly)

** over **

Dave, I'd be honored to send you a copy of these tapes. They are actual cassette tapes! My sister can't believe anyone would bother with such Jurassic technology and neither can I, but I just can't have everything completely digital.. I lag behind. I need to see things turning, have an actual hand in it.. Do you have a tape deck?

If so.... PM me your address again, and I'll try to send it along. Oh one thing though.. I may have to transfer onto normal-bias tape. I'm running outta that Maxell high-bias stuff, and they don't sell it any more!

btw, Sly Stone's music from There's a Riot Going On sounds better in my head than it does right out of the speakers. Much better sometimes. It can truly "take on a life of its own". Pow!

Into the music again today... anything but "reality" at this point.

Damn... can't find my Remain In Light cd by the Heads, only Speaking in Tongues. Tryin' to mix it together with Sly's Riot, or Fresh, or Public Enemy. And Black Flag and the Melvins and Jon Spencer and Tom Waits and the JB's and De La Soul, or maybe Digable Planets. Man, that will never work..

I still think that fade between 'baddest of the bad' (horton heat) and 'straight to hell' (hank III) is one of the best ever!

and chuck D (public enemy) has got to be one of the most angry humans to ever take paper to pen! yeah!
