He was a very good figure for her to photograph. The expressions on his face were unexpected so often, that she stayed interested behind the lens. There he was backing out of a door-way, then he'd laugh tripping over the door-step *snap*, he'd walk towards her *snap*, say something odd *snap*.
A fatherly figure was there watching her photograph and he had a young baby girl in a stroller. For some unknown reason, the father moved the stroller with girl into the water side near by, and the water slowly creeped up the edges of the stroller, beginning to 'drown' it, drown 'the little girl' even.
Her 'boy', she chose to photograph, hadn't quite noticed the stroller and little girl going into the water, until it was rather enveloped all the way up to her stroller seat. In a panic the boy subject leaped into the water's edge *snap*, went in to his waist *snap* and brought the darling little girl into his arms *snap*.
He swam her back to safety, then lit a match, threw it to the drowning stroller top, and set it to fire.
He lit another match with a tall flame, threw it to the photographer. She caught it in the tip of her fingers. I could see the flame was in between her finger tips. I was thinking it should hurt, but she didn't react, just held the match to the last remains of the stroller top, making sure it was completely devoured. She'd forgotten to snap a picture.
On waking.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
