the heart mender
the heart mender
I wrote this while I was on this page... So it may not be very good.
It's kind of funny
when you think about it.
You never knew what was missing...
Until you found it.
You found my heart,
in pieces on the floor.
You helped pick them up,
and gave me back so much more.
I'm not going to say
that I'm falling for you.
Because falling is cliche,
and I think it needs a new view.
Why not the phrase "flying" in love?
Does it matter which?
Because falling sounds too hurtful,
and plus, you could trip.
And now, my friend,
without further ado,
I have to say this,
"I'm flying in Love with you".
=)

Re: the heart mender
beautiful poem! And I really like the question "Why not the phrase 'flying' in love?" I hate the term falling in love...it sounds like an accident of uncontroled something or other, but flying takes skill, muscle, strength -- or at least for us skill and faith in engineering!bethany wrote:I wrote this while I was on this page... I am going to steal this phrase. It is so much more romantic than falling. I love it. Oh and the whole poem actually. It is lovely. That was 3 1/2 years ago, how's the flying going? Please don't tell me you broke a wing.
Re: the heart mender
A wing was most definitely broken. I believe this was written my sophomore year of high school -ish. A REALLY long time ago, considering I'm in college now. I'm pretty sure I was just "in like" with the idea of being "in love".happytrails wrote:Please don't tell me you broke a wing.
But what I found out was: You have to learn to fly on your own before flying with others. =]

Another good saying and excellent advice for other young girls to hear. And boys, too. You are a wise young woman.

Alice in WonderlandI give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.
Me in a nutshell. =]

I am the same. I can tell people the smartest way to handle a situation, but when faced with it myself, I lose control and usually end up doing something I know I will be sorry for later.

Enjoyed this. It reminded me of one I tried to write years ago about honeymooners going for a walk (well, sometimes they have to do something different for a change or a rest) and the bride described the activity as walking but the new hubby said he thought "we were flying." jim
