Thalia
Have you ever met Thalia?
Surely you would know it if you had.
She dwells within the giggle and tease
of a schoolgirl's eye, and
the whispering wink of a boy.
Her smile is as light and fleeting
as a dryad's step; her escapades
leave both centaur and satyr in her wake,
blinded by the glint, like the rippling and liquid
swimming radiance of silver-heeled Thetis.
With lips dreamy and red as the poppy,
flowering within your consciousness
to skip like a stone, flung
upon the watery vastness,
glittering minnows
darting in and about
the lace and lattice of flora, spun
like the song of Sirens, to baffle and entice
the fisherman, net for net...
and even in the throes of dark and implacable gloom
she hides,
within the nervous laugh of rebellious sorrow.

Re: Thalia
I have searched for Thalia, I have found her, I have been Thalia. Lucky me! Thank you for drawing me into this classically beautiful poem. ♥♥♥

...only in passing...mostly at parties where I haven't felt cool enough to participate...never caught her name, but might introduce myself more boldly next time....

I've always loved this one, know Dino did, too. Wonder if he ever did it at a reading? Not a show-stopper, light and gentle. Even here though, his Greek myth references bring the idea of inescapable fate (big Dino theme...)
baffle and entice
the fisherman, net for net...
