Where I Am

Post by Michael » February 17th, 2005, 1:53 am

No longer available for listening.

Like a baby in a tree,
I don’t know where I am.
And the world is hiding me.
I don’t know where I am.
Don’t keep to yourself.
Get out of your shell.
Try to always get around.
The things that they say
can not be today.
Why must they always kid around?

“Take your gun and bayonet.”
I don’t know where I am.
“Run him through and then forget.”
I don’t know if I can.
What’s right today,
to kill or to pray?
Why won’t anyone answer me?
Would it be wrong
to just get along?
Stop telling me what I should be.

What’s right today,
to kill or to pray?
Why won’t anyone answer me?
Would it be wrong
to just get along?
Stop telling me what I should be.

Pull the string, the world explodes
and I won’t know where I am.
Tell us tiny, trivial odes
about a grain of sand.
The smoke up ahead
is not fake instead
it’s just as real as we’re lying here.
Give me a hint,
is it chocolate or mint?
It tastes to me more like bitter beer.

I was 23 in 64, when the peace loving country of the United States was attacked by collossal forces of the the North Vietemese navy one night in august and I would have gone, because I grew up during world war 2, and I knew who the good guys were. But they wouldn't take me, declared me 4f
something about my penis was too large.

I thank you for this song it says it well. I dig the music sounds like listening to am radio back in baltimore around 1953.
War is a geography lesson for Americans.

stilltrucking, thanks for reading and listening once again.

Yeah, that’s the reason they didn’t take me for Vietnam too, but I didn’t want to sound as if I was bragging.

Just curious. What part of the music was reminiscent of AM radio in Baltimore in 1953? Not that I think that there was anything wrong with AM radio or Baltimore in 1953. I was too young to be able to know at that time.

Again, thanks, peace and out.

the platters, earth angel, sounds like that early rock and roll, the kind of thing we would call a slow dance number, more of black sound then white back then or so it seems to me. and when the deep base voice comes in reminds sort of du whoop

I don't think there was hardly any other kind of radio besides AM back then. Cars did not come with FM until the sixties.

i don't know anything about music, just something I can hardly live without.

I wish I could be more technical about it but my ignorance is total.

stilltrucking, you've dated yourself. Consequently, at the same time, you've dated me as well. :D

Thanks for your interest.
