faith

Post by saw » February 11th, 2011, 5:14 pm

the atheist widow smith
disparages the supernatural
yet often summons her dead husband
to help her find her vanished eyeglasses
and when they appear
she always says to herself, "merely coincidence"

I the lapsed catholic often pray to the lord
to provide me with a parking space
downtown for my dodge dart and in return
I promise to go to church every single sunday
from now until eternity whichever comes first
if he will just oblige my simple request

when I turn the corner on cathedral st.
and spot the miracle before my joyful eyes
this beautiful open space, I always
look toward the heavens
and solemnly testify,
"never mind, I found one."
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

This is relatable! This smacks of truth, which -- to my knowledge -- is nearly universally admired.
