Part 2, More Penny Haiku...
"Caw-Caw Penny Haiku #1"
By Steve Plonk
I don't know why
Things go awry
When we mind
Our own beeswax & all--
But pesky crows keep coming
Around our parked car,
Leaving their "cawing" cards...
Eating most suet in front & side yards...
(Also posted on my topical poems: "Some Penny Haiku, Outside the Stall" p. 2, in the Poetry forum, slightly different title).
"Caw-Caw Penny Haiku #2"
By Steve Plonk
(a)
Three pairs of crows
Roosting in the trees
Waiting on the breeze
Rustling their feathers
Three pairs of crows
Waiting out the freeze
For a change in weather...
(b)
Six old crows
On a thick tree branch pose
Like they're on a tether
Six old crows
Watch flurry snow
Bunching close together...
"Caw-Caw Penny Haiku #3"
By Steve Plonk
(a)
Three old crows
Pecking in the snow
For crusts of bread
Three old crows
Flew down below
One's bobbing its head...
(b)
One of the crows
Does a little dance
Acting like a jester
Two other crows
Squabble at each other
Like a brother & sister...

“Winter Cats Penny Haiku”
By Steve Plonk
(1)
We three cats from Tennessee are,
Riding in crates in the family car,
As down goes the sun,
Up come the moon,
Back from the vets we come...
(2)
At the top of the stairs
We’re out of our crates,
We scamper out &
Don’t hesitate—
In the kitchen,
With a mew, mew, meow,
We sing out for our chow...
(3)
Our “feline ID” & “Pro-Pac” is served,
Each of us eats our chow with verve,
Smacking, crunching,
Licking & munching,
Our bowl we clear(s)
Every bit that appears...
(4)
We three cats, from Tennessee,
Treating each other with charity—
Sounding out our purrs with clarity—
Three cats tonight
Are free from spats,
Snoozing on our faux
Leopard skin mats...

"Silver Lining Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk
Cloud over the moon
Means my misery has come
Misery will be over--
It shall pass--
Silver lined transparent
Front cloud will come
Misery turns over with the
Weather as destiny
Keeps beckoning
When the silver lined
Crystal front passes.
Circa Feb. 1968, Revised Feb. 2011.
"Limbo Penny Haiku"
Everywhere, in the dream, I go,
I see children bow their heads
They pray to a G-d they cannot see or hear,
They feel the wind blow the leaves free
Hope that they will be drifting in eternity/
***
Branches of the ground hold up our feet--
Grow our winter wheat--
All the darkness will come down
In darkness, only starlight is found,
We're groping our wretched path
Through the frozen snow,
Awaiting the sunlight of heaven's Spring...
Circa Feb. 1968, Revised 2011.
Circa, Feb. 1968...Leaflets handed out
with paper mache cherries,
during peace demonstration,
outside the NYC United Services Organization.
Copyrighted by the editor in 1986. Part of

Edited by Steve Plonk
Today is Washington's Cherry Day,
Prithee, good sir, a kiss.
I flaireith my dress for none,
Who war'th his life to merry-make,
When, for me, good sir,
Could make a son...
"I'll give thee my cherry,
If thee put down thy gun"

"Polar Bear Club Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk
(a)
I'd like to go swim in the ocean
I'd like to go swim in the sea
I'd like to go swim in the ocean
But it's much too far for me...
I'd like to swim in Walden's Pond
I'd like to swim in Chicamauga Lake
I'd like to swim in Walden's Pond
But it's much too cold, for goodness sake...
***
(b)
How do they stand the cold in Lake Huron?
How do they deal with the ice?
How do they stand Lake Superior?
When warmer times will suffice?
Ice fishing in winter is okay, I guess...
When the lakes have great ice cover,
But I prefer warmer times to fish,
In my swim trunks in a flatboat rover.

"Aho Penny Haiku"
Heading up to more readable heights,
More people seem to come out in the nights,
So now you don't have to scroll down to read me,
Perhaps then you'll be more apt to post & heed me.

"Sunday Breakfast Penny Haiku"
Sapsucker pecking on the house slats,
Waking up to gentle mews from house cats,
Getting jiggy to get our bacon & eggs cooked,
Another Sunday morning in our warm winter nook.

Of thanks for poets' mornings fair.

"Revelation Penny Haiku"
By Steve Plonk
There is no human strength,
Just varying degrees
Of weakness...
Our only strength comes
From G-d who made
Heaven & earth...
So let us pray for
That gift of strength
From our Lord,
To get us through trying times/

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
