Bonnie Parker looks over your shoulder
Her ghostly breath chilling your ear. She’s there
Gazing at the PC monitor where
Old morgue photos of her and Clyde Barrows
Come up on the screen. Don’t look so pretty
There do I? She says, her hand touching your
Arm. Look pleased as flies round shit don’t they, those
Cops and others, she continues, her words
Like echoes around the small room. Guess we
Knew it'd end that way, Bonnie says, Clyde
And I. She moves around you wearing a
Dark phantom beret and long dress. You sniff
For scent or death or whatever, just a
Flowery smell lingers, half there half not.
She traces a ghostly finger over
The images on the screen, her ghostly
Digit lingering over Clyde’s face. They
Gave me a good send off though, Bonnie says,
Turning around, over 20,000
Turned up for my funeral. I was there
Looking on, watching their darn faces and
Listening to their words. She stares at you,
Her eyes moving over your bearded face,
Listening to your breath, the rise and fall,
Then she’s gone, the room’s empty, just a chill
As if she had never been there at all.
