two steps from hobo city

Post by saw » May 6th, 2011, 3:01 pm

two steps from hobo city
hanging by unpolished
under-proteined fingernails,
everywhere I look
are people just like me
hanging from ledges
hanging from trees, they are
the foreclosed neo-tramps
that don't know how
to ride the rails like great
great granddaddy, they are
the rookie bums all green
and pitiful, unsophisticated
to the ways of cardboard houses,
starting fires when it's been raining
for three days running,
don't know about the goons
from the burbs with baseball bats
that will beat you to death while
you sleep beneath the overpass,
just for some kicks, whack-a-mole
with substituted humans, it's the hip
new game for bored rich teenagers
maybe I'll get lucky and some illegal
immigrant will take pity on me
show a softy like me how to survive
out there in the mean asphalt jungle
show me how to make it in the world
with nothing more than the desire to live

true. "foreclosed neo-tramps"... that's a good one. ah, but at least the wall street casino is back up and running, doing very well thank you. and we're kicking some terrorist ass too. not to worry.

poetry and politics is such an interesting category for me, I sometimes get autistic mind blind to empathy :(

yes mnaz, the roulette wheels are spinning in high gear on wall st.......filled up the tank yesterday...56 bucks, after just reading about the record profits for the oil giants....it's hard to write poetry about butterflies and tulips when you're getting gouged ........
thanx short timer.....glad this one spoke to you in some way

truck, I know what you mean, but I think perhaps empathy is the greatest strength you can possess....there is a great documentary called The 1%
which is about the one percent with 90 % of the wealth......that means the rest of us are in the 99 % of folks struggling to make ends meet....which in turn means no matter what else, we have something very big, in common.....thanx for reading
