Good morning, mingo.
Yes, summer time full of rain.
A lot of it here, too.
Sunday nights are a difficulty when it comes to falling asleep.
I'm glad you had a bird watching flicker. It is something. One visual is enough to sustain and then it leads to another found.

yeah I like founds - a tractor came out of the woods at me this morning as I was taking the kayaks off the cherokee. I looked up at the driver he was lookin at me & smile I think because I was in my bathrobe in a hurry so what could I do he was spanish or mexican or maybe puerto rican and I was a gringo in a bathrobe unloading boats and him and the tractor turned back around & disappeared into the woods so sometimes if you're in your bathrobe holding a boat over your head it occurs that conversations with the dead are easier than smilin at the livin but knows who anything about what? it's usually enough what happens at any given point where normal is a wild truly thought so i line up all first thoughts & fire squad them then the second thoughts arrive to carry off the bodies and I tell them bury 'em deep and don't be singin over the graves because rock & roll was born livin & kickin but it was snuffed and it's voice is gone from the land where the schoolhouses were burned down when everybody got busy lookin for ghosts. It was a hot-out but even as i'm tappin this out the forest is takin it all back like it always has. maybe it was the future i was seein this mornin and when death comes he will be spanish or mexican or puerto rican & he'll be drivin a tractor wearin his ballcap backwards so we can smile at each other and wave and i'll go with him back into the woods and only one of us will have a real job. i'm hopin that when i see the Lord i'll have enough class to break right down to my bones and cry just before he shows me his kingdom made new. the place he's makin where what is mortal will be swallowed up by life & where no one puts owl decoys on the tops of their chimneys.
Wow I think I just ran out of words. Sometimes ya just have to take the whole jumble pile & whack the line with it - hard. Other times just have to let it speak for itself no matter what it says.
We think we're stayin but we're always goin.
Yeah, that.

Yes.
It has been sitting there
in my center
like a pair of puffed
warm dove wings
for many years.

Well, I was writing to ya when the electricity went off. Lost what i had goin' so now ya gotta put up with me off-the-cuff. Just finished making my lunch for work. Ready to go. I did some painting while the juice was dead in the line. A piece that I began when snow was still on the ground but I didn't know where to go with it and it wern't talkin' to me so I let it lay. Juice goes dead I grabbed my coffee & went upstairs and slung some paint. The thing began a running gabfest that just would not stop and Holy- trying -to-keep-up-with- it wowwow!
It told me it's name too after about half an hour - MoonKeeper. I got some ways to go on it yet and I can tell there's going to be a whole herd of things & places to see but I'll send ya a pic when done. I think the ancestors are moving around, Gotta get gone, Doll. Catch ya later.

moon is out
rain is movin' in
good thing we are
out of each others range
or there would be fire in the wind
always surprising when & how much the heart will dare,
ain't it ?
moon is out
rain movin' in
fossil songs decorate the radio
fossil songs alive in my interiors

I find poems of rabbits
living underneath my house
the blur of their dreams
clandestine & swift
their fur clotted
with dew

Yesterday I took advantage of living
and the kids and I went hiking in the woods with the dog.
Today will be busy outside the house too.
But my thoughts are here and thinking what type of pictures these adventures might make.
How is your river, mingo?
I continue to wonder about your driftwood and art.
I know you, ya know, my dear friends.

We were all over the place! Beat ourselves up and wore ourselves out ! But reinvigorated and reconstituted in strange new ways!
Another section of the Jessup just after we put in.

Outlet River into Piseco Lake. This is a shot of what's known as Rocky Point. It's a rock garden with huge rocks just below the surface that you don't see in the pic. You don't get through here without scraping the bottom of your kayak but the little boats take it pretty up and walkin' good. Still there was a curse of two by all involved in the passage.

ok got more for ya and I didn't forget your request for pics of something in the water but today is my birthday and they threw an impromptu sweat lodge ceremony for me to mark my passage as an official elder of wisdom & bullshit that I didn't know about so now I have to go to work so I'll finish posting to ya tonight after I get home. Catch ya then, Doll. Until then SCHOOL IS OUT !

I can't wait till I get a vacation. July 4th I'll make it out on the water.
But, I kinda feel like ya helped me drift there and I looked down into that water way to take in the rocks below the surface. I'm always fascinated with what's down in the water.
These pictures sure showed me I was going, even if I didn't get to go.
Thanks to you, mingo
I got to be there.

Re: I am tripping more than you are. Battling razzberries
Got home from work late hoowee what a day. Ok, like I said I did take some beneath or in the water shots for ya. First off I need to tell ya taking shots from a kayak is new to me. Nancy is the official photog'er on our expeditions so she is more used to the conditions than I am. See, a kayak never stops moving when it is on the water, it is always sensitive to current and wind and the planet believe it or not and is constantly answering to all three and also to your own movements within it. You breathe - the kayak responds. All this by way of apology for the shots I tried to take for you. You have to have the reflexes of a gunslinger and by that I don't exactly mean shooting from the hip but more towards shooting from instinct. You can NOT linger in your mind or in the finger you have on the shutter button. To wit, this first one - This was taken in about 2 feet of water, I framed the shot wondering if any of the details, like the ripples the water made in the sand would actually come out when this small sunfish swam right into the middle of my shot. It took me a second too long to push the shutter button. The fish gave a flick of its tail the same time I did that so when I looked at the result - no fish. Still, I kept the shot for ya because I found the play between the light on the water with the sand beneath the water interesting.

There is a HUGE rock underneath these lily pads. Big as a good size room but the way it came out is hard to get the effect because of the reflection of sky by the water. I'll be learning.
