smoke

Post by creativesoul » October 2nd, 2011, 12:05 pm

i rose in my parents one nite
they had a ciagrette together
after i was concieved
one of the better ones i have smoked

now 53 years later
after chantriix, nicoderm, commit lozenges
i wheeze cough and cannot let go of the stick
that gives me more and takes more
everytime
i think i can stop
i am lying
every wisp of smoke hits the air
the designs of so many lives rising
in war holes
in airports
outside any criminal justice system
the self torture
pain
and lack of any real hope
burns on the end of a roll yer own
stained fingers
dirty clothes
but present with a sack of top
observations smoke me
out of whatever i wanted
i loved and lost
but i am not sure having tried was a prize
smoke a cig
maybe those thoughts will disappear
wanting a cig is wrose
when you have none
the crime rate would go down if they gave away cigs
stress
illusion
heartless jobs
took it all like smoke
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

red lipstick
gloss
white skin
smoke curls from the red thick sucking lips
a cig slides off the gloss
and her nails
so perfect in the sunlight
she wanted to be a movie star
tried to play marilyn monroe games and voices
she looked into her compact mirror
and saw those features
the ones she had to learn to love
smoke
flies around her
cameras flashing
smoke of flashbulb black and white moments
old glamourous faces lick her stage lights
smile
smoke lights up her face
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Creative Soul, Outstanding duo of poems about "smoke". The addiction of cigarettes and show biz appear to be showcased. Your "spot on" description of the difficulties
of quitting either cigarettes or the spotlights is poignant.

We don't get out of this thing alive. However, sometimes the thrill gets gone
long before we do. I quit nearly "cold turkey" from tobacco in 1975 and have
occasionally have had cravings to start up. However, I have never acted on
them, double entendre. Life is sometimes a "plastic act" which catches up with
us with long looks in the mirror... A certain amount of "plastic" is required
from folks in the spotlight...Some have the ability to shrug off tabloids
and the glare of the kleig lights and others do not. :(

Once again, in some ways, I think many of us, with an artistic bent, are
kindred spirits. It helps to get feedback once and a while. I am generally
optimistic about life--but not the commanding general...
