MLK, MMXII

You couldn't possibly invent history,
no toe can get a foothold around an
idea whose time has come.

I tell you the honest truth, it wasn't Professor
Plum in the drawing room with the smoking
gun, it was DNA that committed the crime
and made the difference that originated
all children of a lessor God committing the
sin of skin.

The march goes on to be civil and not buy
salt from the merchants of oppression. I
thought I heard the God of Love speaking
in tongues--Martin, Gandhi, Jesus, a bloodless
revolution begins with revelation, you its sacrifice.

You, that carve a new path from old translations, speak
again. Tear down these walls
between us. Draw deep from the well
of freedom. This is America, but is she
the promised land? A land divided like Jerusalem?

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Let the people go,
freed from the tyranny of lies, unmanacled by courage and its
steep uphill battle just to plant a mountain.
