dub rock

Post by mnaz » February 16th, 2012, 7:33 pm

rock and sky
jah roots emanate
reverb fills expanse
bathes the bare land
ricochets off peaks
empties in canyons

ridges pulse on bedrock
rhythm deconstructions
reverb drifts transfigured
to unpaintable twilight
subdued echo and fade
sufferer's rock

going to a-fri-ca
nevada rock and light
steal the rootsman's lyrics
faith tested in barren sweeps
affirmed by longer views
lyrics fade in and out
interior thunder

in the beginning was rock
riddle of infinity rumbling
big dog woofer grumbling
rolling big bass lumbering
psalms of the heavy rain forth
in valley of the shadow of dusk
the holy boom, rattle the room
can’t place yourself in space
on the face, of the deep

and the word was dub
the monster massive
slowed an octave low
black edge of sunlight
reverb on a big beat earth
blown span, heat and grit
lost tribes in the desert
dub, rock and sky

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

thank you my friends.

blending the way-out pulse with the way out geology . . .
the connection hit pretty hard, out on the back roads when the "big god war" was raging in late 2001... jah roots, rock and sky ... "hey gods, over here" ...

anyway, here's a longer version . . .

dubbed out roots emanate
reverb echo turned low to fill expanse
ricochet off bare peaks, lay out the land
bathe it in echo and fade, interior thunder
drift past a craggy rise across the divide
deconstructions blown open, transfigured
where ridges pulse on bedrock rhythms
jah roots, rock and sky

everything changed
nothing new under the savage sun
wild heads on a creen, president on tv
the glow filtered in dust and detritus
bleached bones, miles of quiet defiles
jealous gods on corkscrew thermals
wrath in every corner of stillness
and jah roots

augustus pablo, king tubby
scream from a dash, from the sand
if dub melodica may scream, or haunt
reverb drifts to unpaintable twilight
empties into canyons, sufferer's rock
subdued echo, lyric fades in and out
reverb murmurs through again
earth to echo and back

rootsman on a big beat earth
songs of thirst fit the desert
going to a - fri -ca to-mor-row
into rock and light, take the lyrics
take what you need from the rootsman
his rhythms written in self-defense
his faith tested by barren sweeps
affirmed by longer views

in the beginning, rock
and vibrations of rock
riddle of infinity rumbling
big dog woofer grumbling
rolling big bass lumbering
yea verily, reverb careens
from the valley of the shadow of dusk
and psalms of the heavy rain forth

and the word was dub
the black edge of sunshine
monster massive slowed an octave low
the holy rolling boom, rattle the room
you can’t place yourself in space
on the face, of the deep, verily
the heat and grit, dub laid bare
the lost tribes, rock and sky
