And kill with a retreating eye

Panta,

No, I was referring to any particular sentence, I was referring all the maps which show the Palestinian territory and the history of how it was taken over by Israel.

But, about the sentence, whether it's over-simplified or not, it MUST be true that the Palestinian territory was originally occupied by Palestinians. I mean, that's just a no-brainer.

Well thanks, Doreen.

No offense, but how long have other nations been troubled by the perpetual conflict of this area. Perhaps even before the Hyksos swept out of what is now called Israel, Palestine and Syria to invade northern Egypt in 1700BC ? Defeated over a hundred years later, many Hyksos were killed, others fled back to their homelands while some were captured and enslaved by the Egyptians. Escaping slavery some of these 'Egyptianized' Hyksos returned much later to their homelands and waged a war of conquest against others already living there. I'm sure religious writers have enhanced that bit of history for their holy books.

Someone spoke of the Parthians, true they had a knack for parting shots from their powerful composite bows, but over 30,000 Roman soldiers were all but annihilated by a much lesser force of these mounted archers at the battle of Carrhae .

Perhaps not the ones who really screwed up by pissing others off.

War against innocent people is never alright, but some people tend to defend their families, friends and homelands against the intrusions and atrocities of others.

It would be grand if we all lived in a utopia of perpetual peace, but I'd wager since the dawn of human history there has not been one year with no wars. The country in which I live has been at war with someone or another since it's founding. Probably not ten years passing without another war.

doreen, i can only repeat myself - the definition of palestine and palestinians (and the whole rest of the conflict) it is not as simple you you wish it to be (and as many others wish as well, including me, because a clear scheme of who is in the right and who is in the wrong would make things much much easier). i tried to explain about the background of the name palestine in my earlier posts; read them again and also check out the links, if you are really interested to know more - and, yes, it's a freaky lot of info, and, yes again, it's damn complex).

apart from who is right and who is wrong, apart from all namings and varying stories, bottom line is though, that people are suffering there. and as i have said before, this is what needs to be solved, and this is the responsibility and challenge for all those involved who are in power...

kurt, there's food for thought in your comment - it rises the question whether the end can ever justify the means...

It would be great if they could do this hand to hand, man to man, but what about if these middle eastern countries start shooting nukes at each other ?

And to think there are those hoping for this to happen as means to bring about their Armageddon fantasy.

Panta... I understand it's complicated. That's why I was so pleased to find that website which is very informative. Yes, they've simplified it some, however, there is a LOT of information on that site and many links to explore. There's a lot of history presented and I like the site a lot.

Kurt... AMEN to that!
