if i kill the weeds where they live
deep in the crevasses and chasms of random fortune
then i would deprive myself of the pleasure
of whacking them into a fine powder
to mix in the atmospheric flux and folly
the joy of the robin that goes be-boppin along
the whippoorwill and the swizzle-stick
the avian wonder that used to be dinosaurs
until they realized that reptilian isn't all that
come, feast upon my green smorgasbord
be fruitful and excrete with gusto
