Some Penny Haiku, Part 5

Post by Steve Plonk » October 3rd, 2013, 1:38 pm

SUM OF PARTS, PENNY HAIKU

I realize that every time
I lose a pet, they take a
Piece of my heart with them, &
Every new pet who comes
Into my life gifts me with
A piece of their heart...

If I live long enough
All the parts of my heart
Will be like my pets, &
I will become as generous &
Loving as they are--
One wholly heart of flesh...

poem in a veterinarian's office.

Sometimes I wonder if my cat thinks of me as his pet?

Enjoyed the poem thank you.

TWO CATS BETTER THAN ONE PENNY HAIKU
By Steve Plonk

a)
Two cats—better than one,
Mew cats in the sun,
Mewing & having fun,
Labeling my shoes,
After chasing yarn or snack chews,
String or yarn amuse,
These now inside cats,
Better to be inside a house,
Than a barn,
We cherish & protect our cats,
Who’ll come to no harm,
Cats who amuse with mews
Sniffing our chili con carne—

b)
Two cats better than one—
Cats inspire muse
With their mews,
Sometimes much “blarney”
We are ones they choose to label,
Or attend their mews
This wonderful maple syrup morn…
No laughs are left undone…
I could float on the smells
Of flapjacks & syrup
Like a cartoon character…

Mingo, This is only a figurative cafe here. You must provide your own coffee.
Check out pictures of Pegasus, the Flying Horse...My mascot, however is named "Stewball",
in the introduction to PHOTO TUTORIAL.
Check out flying dragons in "Blasting Caps from the Vault, Part 5" & elsewhere...
Keep Smiling. :) 8)

COFFEE HOUSE PENNY HAIKU
By Steve Plonk

In “Starbucks”
Waiting for daughter
Who’s making a purchase—
Lake gulls are “dive bombing”
Parking lot & birch trees,
While I’m reading ‘bout “Ness of Brodgar”
When historical bronze age begins…

Holy Jesus Chrysler! There is somebody to home! So came down to check this act out - virtual ya say - just what the hell we mean when we refer to something as virtual? no, really - does that mean it's real? not real in comparison to something that is? how can we ever say something or anything is not "real" - just came back from a walk in the woods with my dog - had some excitement - a bit of mystery - found a substantial pile of guts in the middle of nowwhere - yeah - odd thing to find where it was - not a butcher or a kill site either - no bone no fur no disturbance of the leaves - just that pile of guts - it looks like they had been brought there in a bag and dumped - & recently too - there was some sign of scavenger activity but not a lot yet - and some short distance to the south there was a piece of large plastic bag - damn odd place for this - someone had to do a piece of tough walking across a landscape covered in forest and thick bush wrought by the ice ages to get it back where I found it and why not throw it in any roadside ditch? Do ya think the president knows of this? if he does not what does he know that could be of any practical use?

And to think all I wanted was a simple walk in the woods with my dog and the rain.

Ness of Brodgar? - sounds like a piece of erotica to me - hope it is anyway - historical bronze age - now what the hell is that? hey don't look at me - this is what ya gave me to work with so there it is - how long ago bronze age? 5000 yrs? 7000? there is walking talking archeology all around me - hell, in my face and trying to sell me a bike or underwear or a beer - /oldest legend or spiritual myth? the werewolf of course - from hunter gatherer time - long before the farmers - long before any heavy metal came along or was thought of - man/animal or animal/man - still the oldest evidence of spiritual nature took this form first - a creation in the form of a creature that, most importantly, could cross between worlds - between the natural world and the supernatural one - a living breathing bridge - the werewolf is the primary common basis for all the religions of man which makes of the Christ the greatest warrior that ever strode the surface of this planet - ever notice that most of the artistic depictions of Christ
place a beard on his face? - not in historical context at all - the men of Jesus's time were typically clean-shaven - the beard is added to denote the werewolf aspect - think i'm loading on you? well then get your google on Mr. Bandito and check out the images taken from cave paintings nick-named the "Sorcerer" - the half man-animal is drawn with a beard -

- food for thought - and ya still ain't got any coffee around here - what kind of a cafe is this?

Mingo, thanks for visiting my artlog. Looks like I got you to thinking...Poetry is all about the
connections between the real world & the world of the figurative or virtual as you call it. 8)
Nothing is like it seems at first. Check out the INTRO to my PHOTO thread & you'll find a
connection to plenty of flying horses. Mine is named "Stewball" per my new artlog intro.
We say things in poetry which we can't say in any other genre. But, you know that. 8)

If you want to chat, I have a "Chat Spot" in the top of the "General Discussion" Forum.
I'll send you a message there. :)

“Ditty Penny Haiku”
By Steve Plonk

a)
I’d like to take a trip
To the moon,
Be back in the
Late afternoon,
But I’m really not
Going very far,
Just to the Mall
In my car…
b)
Remoulade is the
Spice of God,
As I eat a sandwich
With it on the promenade,
In the soon to
Be remade Northgate Mall…
c)
In mid-winter time,
Called “Candlemass”
One of my “faves” times
Of the year—AKA
“Groundhog Day”…
Hearing “Evening Canticles”
On the radio,
Our few inches of snow
Almost finished melting…

TO MY CAT: The Duke of Chow
By Steve Plonk

Sweet Kitty cat
So furry & fine
Cat with lives nine

Who deftly jumps on
The window sill
Who brought in lizards & shrews
As his kill,
Who climbs virginia pine trees
By his sheer climbing skill--

Who stares lovingly at:
His empty water bowl or
His food dish--
Who magically gets
His every supper wish,
From a caretaker
Who loves him so...

Sweet kitty cat
So fine & furry,
Who savors his life,
Whose not in a hurry...

SONGS FOR MY CAT: Duke’s Penny Haiku (a—e)
By Steve Plonk
a)
“Meowy yi yay”
I’m a tough & happy
Maine Coon cat
A gentle warrior, I am,
“Mewey ky yi
Mewy yippie yay
Yippie yay
Meowy ky yi
Mewey yippie yay
Yippy yahn”
I’m an eighteen year old
Maine Coon cat…
I’m moving on…
***
b)
Yes, My nickname is Duke of Chow
“Mewey meow meow yippie yay
Yippie yay
Mewey meow meow yippie yay”
Eighteen & a half years now
I label my water dish & my chow bowl,
I sing my gentle caterwall today
I heard my caretaker call my name…
***
c)
I come running with a
“Mewey meow meow
Yippie yay yippie yay.”
When I hear my caretaker call,
This is my song, my caterwall:
I remember all
The trees I climbed—
My own yellow tennis ball…
I recall all the lizards & shrews
I caught—
***
d)
Recall all the winning fights I fought,
I remember my buddies now dead:
Binks, Tiger, Beau, Luke, Jasper & Stella,
I am now the oldest fella…
Once I was the top cat in the ‘hood,
I relish my retirement, long sought,
It’s all good…
“Meowy ki yi
Yippie yay Yippie yay
Meowy kiyi Yippie
Yippie yay”
(Refrain)
I’ve done as I should,
My caretakers are proud of me
I’m a distinguished senior cat
With my coat so shiny,
You see, I was born on Halloween
In Chattanooga, Tennessee,
“Meowy meow meow
Yippie yay Yippie yay”
With my refrain I
Celebrate my eighteenth
Spring today…
***
e)
My caterwall sings of
Last night
Where the fireflies swarm,
Meteor showers flash
In Cameloid Storm—
In the North ,
Near Polaris star
In the “Little Bear”
I am granted a “boon”:
Near the time of the
Half-moon…
Scent of lilies in the clear air…
(Refrain)
“Meowy ki yi
Yippie yay Yippie yay
Meowy kiyi Yippie
Yippie yawl….”
As I bounce my
Yellow tennis ball.
