Now I can download the 3D model as an STL file, which is a great filetype to have if you want to create something on many of the 3D printers out there. I am using a DIY (or as we call it Do-It-Together) 3D printer called a RepRap.
Here's Doreen's original banner image (hope it's OK to post this, Doreen):
And here's the 3D model I created, ready to print out on a 3D printer:
If you want to try this with images (be sure and have permission and give credit to any works you base your 3D model off of), reply with your go at it. Available for questions and help if you are interested but run into stumbling blocks.
If you post something that you made but don't have access to a 3D printer in your community, I can try to print it for you. If you are interested in building a 3D printer with community members in your area, let me know and I'll try to point you in some good directions.
You probably can't upload STL files here. I can change that if Doreen wants me to and there is actually a draw for 3D modeling files, but I can't make the forums show an image of them regardless..for that just take a screenshot and unless there's an interest in it I won't add STL file extensions as upload options..just link to your 3D model on Tinkercad, Thingiverse, or a similar web service that hosts 3D models for 3D printing, especially if you want me to print it.
Otherwise, just enjoy the eye candy
