light photographs

Post by bennie » March 21st, 2005, 4:57 pm

these are photos I've been taking inspired by Rob and Nick Carter's artwork. I got to know of them when I fell in love with their artwork for The Music's first album. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 57-3970827

cool, Bennie!

What's the source of light for these?

Thanks for the link, too! I'd never heard of them before.

What's a triptych?

Cool as right!

A phantasm of light!

And I know what tryptych is because I googled.
If I couldn't google I'd be such a foogle! Well, I'm still a foogle but I'm glad for the google.

Yes, tryptyching would be a fine idea.

I wait with baited breath to discover how these were shot, captured, how their life began.
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

The amber ones are street lights (humble street lights. I know they're humble, they bowed.)

The red white and blue ones are made up of a red light, a white light and my mobile phone respectively.

The peachy, white one is a candle.

I made them by moving the camera as I pressed the shutter release button. Mad moving mystic light.

A triptych is a piece consisting of three pictures or paintings. the usually denote a series of movements, I think.

Have you ever tried doing a "rank" shot before???? That where you zoom in with a telephoto lens on a light or lights. Then there's where you open the lens and then with a pen light draw in the air or trace an object with it. You will need to get a hold of a "cable." It's an attachment that will hold the button down on the camera. You should be able to find one in a camera store for a regular camera. As for dig. I'm not sure how you would do that. Try all of those suggestions you just might like them!!!! :D

Bennie, those lights remind me of when I use to fly my kite at night. I had a two fisted flight which was a two string stunt kite. It could fly in almost any direction and could do endless loops. For night flying I would tie two glo-sticks to the front of the kite. Now that was an impressive sight if you didn't know what it was. The closest thing to a UFO there is. I would always draw a crowd when flying at night.
One night I took a transparent trash bag, taped four glo-sticks to the inside, filled it with helium and let it go. Got in a bit of trouble over that one. The local military base didn't appericiate my artistic expression. Yep fun with glo-sticks. Put them on the spokes of a bicycle wheel, talk about tracers.

I like your fifth photo best. The shapes look like seahorses.

Those are fun!
The triglyph idea sounds right too.
How did you make them?

Uh, Bennie, why bother with the expensive set up and simply have a few strong drinks, then merely point and shoot with a natural bob and weave?

I think I see a little monk in there!

Did you write a review of that band?
Do you ever post your music reviews?

Sober Stoner, what is a glow stick?

expensive set up?

It's just a few lights. I don't do anything expensive. I don't have any fucking money to do anything expensive. That's one of the best things about being creative; something out of nothing.

I get my reviews posted on elevationstation.net

have a look. I'm not a sycophant but all the reviews are positive. that's just the nature of the function of the machine that is the website.
