fantastic plastic

Post by saw » August 25th, 2014, 11:44 am

saw these tiny little grocery carts
mingled in with the larger herd
you know, those conventional steel mesh animals
we all steer down the trails of the supermarket

there was this long thin springy rod
attached to these miniatures
with a bright yellow triangular banner flying from the top
that read, "Shopper in Training"

the woman next to me says,
"Ain't that cute "?
I was horrified ! !
Cute ? ! !

is it cute that we indoctrinate children
into to mindless consumer zombies
as soon as they are able to walk, my god
they don't really even need to be able to read that sign

just need to push it along , watch what Mom or Dad do
grab whatever you like from the awesomely displayed goodies
and hurl into the basket on wheels
how convenient

thousands of varieties of cookies
an entire city block of cereal boxes
with the friendly faces of the Frankenberry monster
as Count Chocula drools from the top shelf at the prospect of a tender young neck

how utterly simple
grab it
toss it
charge it

I imagine the CEO Vampire
plunging his claws into the suggestion box
pulling out a piece of paper and reading to himself
" If I were the manager of this grocery store

I would fabricate
some cute little plastic cards to hand to all the kids
with darling little bunny rabbits on them
and fluffy little smiling ducklings

hand each kid a card and a lollypop whenever they come in."
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

and wait till one of the
little chilluns gets run over
by rampaging shoppers
i remember my little daughter
almost getting slammed at
the intersection of the aisles
at a safeway by some mad rushing
shopper, it seems that the rush
to get to the checkout brings
out the worst in many good folk
i rarely go to the grocery store
if i do i carry a basket, more big
americana rip off, the sizes and portions
continually get smaller while the prices
rise, i was amazed last sunday (1st time since feb.)when i went
and saw this sad state of affairs, its easier and cheaper
for me to eat out....thats a fact....only bad thing bout that is
u used to talk to people and make new friends
now everyone has their faces buried in mobile devices
wah wah wah.....let me let go of this ranting
steve i really got off on this piece....thanks :)
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

generic food - GMO BILL DIDNT PASS- so we have mindless shopper zombies- and the whole crazy flock of carts- and the absence of actullyy being satisfied-
i hear the little rickety wheels and i can see the guy in produce misting and stocking- and where did they get alll those old people?
the drug store line around the first is pretty skanky- i have been in lines like that- a whole new chemical zombie waiting in line- then in the parking lot- the big gulp and swallow- i hear that song'i havent got time for the pain'
and the heat- and the gray faces-
yeah pharmasutical zombies- moraphine, oxyz yeah get down-
so i get in the car and i drive away-
at home i smoke some - a cigarette
stares at me from the drawer
it has been one fuck of a long week
and i dunno- maybe i do not have what it takes- or it takes all i fucking have :?:
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
