shut up tight now

Post by the mingo » October 24th, 2014, 1:51 am

- roots
the web of roots
the jellybean theory of combustion
the first roads came about naturally to a need
desire is a snakehouse desire is a big tree
the way the sky can speak thanksgiving
sometimes the subject is too much for me
so i stop for a moment & play with my eyebrows
& notice the dog is dreaming his paws twitching running in his sleep
in a kind of archeological way that i almost remember is not at all like sailing but more of a something out of Last of the Mohicans when Hawkeye has to take out a loan to pay his bills
in the days before the Declaration & Constitution which come to think of it all happened damn quick
ink weren't hardly dry on the paper when Molly Pitcher exclaimed
"Jazz is now a foregone conclusion"
even then machines were expanding
same as flint tipped spears & cave art galleries in their day
such a funny thing words & poolhalls
people used to talk about things like parlors too
exposure & display are different things
when i went to school there were no pythons in the everglades
no dreams of such a thing either
the hand can touch many things it cannot hold
thinking about the same sex over & over again & always we want to know how fast something will go
it's autumn all the windows are shut up tight now
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

"...the way the sky can speak thanksgiving..." This is one great line.

There an entire Liberal Arts education in this poem, complete with History, Literature, and Philosophy. Glad I read it. Thanks for posting it.

Exposure and display
Nice mingo!
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
