are u ready for some football?

Post by WIREMAN » November 9th, 2014, 10:14 pm

take a ticket
enjoy the ride
jojo's too crowded
about face over to
isabella's scene
"hey wireman!" they say
but i'm lookin' for ravens
confusion tappin'
at my cerebral core
pulled this way
than that way
to a bar behind the bar
"Guiness!", she says
it appears in an instant
blue ball shooters &
shots of tequila ensue
Cowboys runnin round
Saints and niners goin at
it like gladiator hounds
then she orders more beer
by now everyones slid off
into the other room
this lady starts to go into
a swoon bout how they gotta
fix the door and just where
did i used to live in Baltimore
switchin channels the ravens
hit a long one for another score
i'm ready to make for the door
she grabs my arm and orders
another round says, "lets drink
to our kids" while my heads
just about ready to hit the
ground, lighting a cigarette
i tell her "you better take it outside"
my head swimmin' like some kinda
nightmare dream within a dream
i try to muster the energy to find a
way to split this scene, heading out
the door she's sittin on a wall cig in
her mouth and beer at her side
i bid my adieu nicely and leave
her with some kids and a puppy
dog passing by, it's autumn in Amerika
leaves blowin' & fast movin' skies
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

the winter tells no lies!
lets all of us get drunk
and try to survive!

tho I rarely go any more, I have always loved the energy in bars, the way some people who cannot naturally let you know them, open up to show you their heart when uninhibited by a few drinks, and a crowd of folks all there for the same reason,... to forget the work week perhaps, to bond with other humans,... which cannot happen at home in the LAZ Y-BOY...being a conversationalist I have always fit in to that scene...doesn't matter if bar is uptown or downtown....I can blend in....find the pulse....nice stream Mark...wouldn't change anything
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

i'd rather get drunk by myself

but i do enjoy going out every now and then

as Buk once said there's worse things than being alone

this poem is very much like the adventurous convo's after a couple drinks.

I liked it.

Brings back memories. Drinking in a bar. I've been known to go to them before. Some of them used to actually pay me for my presence. :) Paid the bills.

There are a couple about a mile or two away from here. I could walk there if I want. That's the only way to go to a bar, unless you only drink coffee. I don't drink soda pop. Yuck.

I like the photo. Goes well with the poem. You look like you've been working out at the gym. Maybe it's all that tongue flexing. :D

Guess it's ridiculous here. Hah!

Oh my gosh, bars are so fricking expensive now! ONE drink costs $8-$10 ... used to be you'd get entertainment for a drink that expensive. These days, you have to make your own entertainment. Good thing the people out there are entertaining, Mark! Looks like you and your tongue are entertaining, too. heh!

Ohhh... it's Harry! (no, I don't think I met him but cigar box guitars and mandolins sound way cool!)

I used to live for Happy Hour. And Closing Time. I started at happy hour and closed the bar then went on to the after-hours parties. Time it was oh what a time it was, it was. .... Some days I started work at Happy Hour and finished at Closing Time. Other days, I was a customer. Bars bars bars. My dreams are filled with them. I've been on a lot of stages.

Here's to you, WiredMan... still living the life of a 20-something. If I went out every night for Happy Hour, I'd be dead before Christmas.

:D

Loved the poem! Keep 'em coming!

.....and, there is nothing like having your "Cheers" bar....a crazy surrogate family, that at times is better than your real one...that's why gangs exists, same principle....weird as it may seem, there is love there....in the gang, in the bar...the crowd often is the only support and love you get that day....I've been wanting for years to a series of videos with clever question and answer interviews in bars along one particular road....need a good interviewer, i would film it....want to call it " Bar Trek"....now, don't anyone steal my idea... ha ha, it will likely never happen.......................................................................but, who knows ?
