11:18 a.m.
it's the elevation what does it here
for snow
things are so finely tuned in this area
that a few hundred feet of elevation
means snow - heavy heavy snow
let mark knopfler sing that shit
sky gray but light gray
no dark gray - dark gray = snow
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

jack like
stonehouse
rerouting streams

upon awakening
mountains rise above
a slug leaves a trail

last words like
knives plunged
deeper & deeper

stonehouse beneath
peach blossom fragrance
no burning incense today

hallway smells exotic
hum of fan whirrs
dont breathe to hard
might get high

friends msg from
adams morgan
the calvary won
the day

it all came
so late in life
all i could do
was smile

han shan grabbed
the charcoal
scrawled gems on
blue cliff wall

lightning bolted
windows blew open
cat ran away

he writes the night
makes peace with
distant friends
smiles

sleep comes in waves
dreams remembered
only for waking instant

bended knees

jesssssss tremblin feet
in rice pudding repleat
rubber meets road
hobbibly glow
to fung tow
the truck was already
chained up
cups on desire
saucer spilt stones
mass illusion beneath
an ancient caravan

mass illusion?
i just woke up
and already mass illusion?
woman says there are
mice in the longhouse already
all hail mass illusions
it's 2 degrees below zero
in my neck of the mass illusion
snow and there are
graveyards in my neck of
the mass illusion
crossroads
& gas stations
murder & laughter
& snow & bad teeth
everything in motion
i doubt it can be much colder in Mongolia
than it is right here
right now
they tell me the sap ain't running yet
in the maples because it's been so cold
I figure that's probably bullshit
the sap gotta run because of the time
cold don't have nothin'
to do with it -

first day of March
guess what?
got snow coming down
it may be almost calender spring
but winter don't give two shits
I don't give two shits either
i came here to the slopes of the Plateau
for the 'ku
and it can snow 'til June 1st
before I raise any white flag
and that's all
there is to it

In like a lion, they say.
Snow here, too, and more
coming Tuesday.
My cat is snoring.
I'm waiting for the phone
to ring but I don't want to
talk. I've lost my voice.
I don't know what to say.

the lion is roaring
his snow white mane tinged
with ice, but life goes on
the cars fly by my house
like they have no sense,
last week I was digging them out
all young drivers with heavy feet
one killed his transmission shifting
like a maniac impatient with the normal
speed of his world where 4G sets the tone
and weather can some how be mastered
if you push harder on the accelerator
and they were amazed how I knew how to free them
why I approached their cars carrying
an old heavy steel wire mesh window grate
to situate under their wheels...not a single one
knew if they had front or rear wheel drive,
they actually did not want to power their windows down
to talk to this old man with a snow shovel
and this weird apparatus under his arm, after all
it was freezing outside, in the end
many offered me a blessing from god
I guess I am a cross between mother Teresa
and Jeremiah Johnson
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
