totally at peace
down here on floor
annihilator of delusion
clouds roaming free
there is a way to
hinge the door
against the wind
yet the slammers
still try to destroy
the fix
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

I remember a spring
about the year 1990
living in a friend's garage
because we defaulted on the Spanaway house
how blessed I felt on a February morning
having sunshine in the front yard
so when I washed my hair with the garden hose
it didn't feel so bad

When the weather is warm enough
for a garden, I'm gonna dig it!

I have never given up on spring.
I have succumbed to the reckoning
of curiosity. Worms worm their way
into holes in surfaces covered by moss.
Insects inspect portals; the portholes of
trespassing – wormholes into deep space –
tentacles delve in. Insects, worms,
caterpillar moths ... winter passes
and yes! gravity holds us to the
rotation on an axis,
the orb confirms the cycle.
Sun warms skin, rebirth settles in.
How reassuring the hatching, the
creatures, the baby's breath!

Confidence withers with bad weather
Am I that weak?
Alas yes
But strong enough to notice
I'm that weak

i just realized
the clothes in the basket
are mine -
just in time too
because i was getting ready
to yell at someone else
about leaving the basket
in the middle of the floor
- - i threw some bread
out the back door couple of days ago
trying to attract richard brautigan's 9 crows
with two out of sequence -
only one showed up
a big one
with rough appearance
& a gimp leg
he looked like he had seen
and lived through
some shit

Like the lilacs in the side yard
or the ancient iris that was planted
o so many years ago...
I bloom, I push thru the soil & rocks
to see the sun, the light of day
a smidgin of the color purple
...hello world! How are ya?

It has been a long long long time
since I have flowered...
the compost was good, the shit works
one can only lie fallow so long
before you burst...out
from the concrete tomb
a crack (wise as it may be)
gives me hope!

YES!!!
Freedom's just another word...

Suddenly, like a frying pan
nature was a waterfall of canadian ice coming down like messy politics
reforming the reforms
the coming of the Krokus

just exactly who the fuck still goes with the geese
up north at this time
with the she sheeps and the he herrings
and him over there, a hipster
in his 45´s
noose up
clearing the beach
joining the band

korean war vet landlord
took me around today
back in the woods
to where his brother lived
with three dogs looked like they come
out of the ice age
landlord's brother said to me
"look where i live,
now ain't this heaven?"
on our way back out of there
i saw a chickadee
feeding on a deer carcass -
never imagined that before
though have often wondered
how those tiny seedeaters
make it through the winter round here
now i know -
my landlord a gone cat
landlord's brother a gone cat
meateating chickadee a gone cat
morrison sung about strange days
but he didn't know the half of it
