Banana Man

Harry Bellafonte sings
to me on the radio,
men in straw hats
wave to me from beyond
my kitchen.

daylight come and me wan go home....

lovely lovely lovely

Before Macy's bought out the Bon Marche department store, the advertising campaign promoting the Bon ruined that song for me. The tune of 'daylight come and me wan go home' was used for 'three-day sale at the Bon Marche' .......

I don't know any other song that the guy ever sang except the Banana Song and I heard it the other day and started tapping my foot on the kitchen floor and it felt good and the song sounded good and I felt good and I danced and sang for about four minutes and that is all about that there is no more except…

HB was in a movie back in the day called "The World, The Flesh, and The Devil"…it's always stuck with me as something kind of ground breaking. It was a statement about nuclear war and race and all kinds of things. Not even sure why I remember it, but I do. It's weird the things we remember and worse yet the things we can't.
