just on the other side ( for D.F.W. )

Post by saw » September 18th, 2015, 3:54 pm

my mind was awash
tossing like forty degree rolls
on the U.S.S. Tin Can
I could see my thoughts
tangled like an unruly ball of yarn,
clarity glazed...smeared with frosted cicadas
with opaque wings and deafening crescendos

the feast of insect avalanches.... the perks of focus
lost in spectacle...I thought of David Foster Wallace
his Infinite Jest... the best joke of all !
I felt the torment of wanting Not to know
so much, the buzzards with their hungry looks
their vacuous eyes perched above, and blackbirds thick
as moonless nights, concentric rings of flying ebony
frenzied for their holiday desert

blocking penetration....the answers... always

just on the other side
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

very beautiful- 8)
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Very expressive.

I'm assuming that D.F.W. refers to your son who you refer to in your comment on "Cancer Ward".

(sometimes after reading poems I don't have any great insight to offer anybody else but I do want to express to the author that I liked the poem. That's true with your poem and a couple others that I read here today. Wish we had a "Like" button.
