Bikin' not so much lately
i get out on it
for figure eights
& just ridin' back & forth
but no hobobuns
no hunts
no journeys to the interior
landlord has had me busy
but the wood splitting
is done for now
the roofing job is finished
'cept for some touch up
autumn is calendar official now
spirits on the move
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Bop understandings
Beat realities
A game of tether ball
Inconsistent nebula
The icing on the ever after
Wrong can be write
Orville & Wilbur had a
Nice little bike shop
in Dayton, Ohio
But they wanted to fly
I found solace behind the
Sink or swim
Wound up in a firehouse
No pole though
Ava Gardner was true beauty
But she smoked too much
I knew a girl
She always said "whatever!"
Was easily led
Inevitably it was quicksand
She fell in
Jumpin' outta the fire
Sizzlin' in the frying pan
Music ruled that Calvary rescue
Or was it Rin-Tin-Tin?
Rip tides, rip torn
Shores parallel to crossed words
Still the beat goes on
I find myself in utter Mongolia
Or was that outer?

In the stew

Do waka do
Jammin
Layin it on the land
Solid

High fivin'
Stayin alivin
Flowin
Yes on the goin
Rollin and strollin
All them evenings
Walkin the dog
Chuckin the ball
In the park
At the fields
Man that boy sure could swim
Swam

Rub a dub
In the time of love
Escapes me now
Like a big kapow

rain all yesterday
rain all last night
river is up
dead guy wrote a song, it went:
"like the wind on the river
she is home to me"
the dead guy's brain blew up
some time ago
i just flowed right on by where
he came to a halt
look back now he's been gone years
years
i write this & that
but sometimes these days
i wonder why i'm meddling
don't want to write it
wanna live it

Rain runnin rivers
In Frederick streets
Businesses flooded on
Patrick street...ugh!
More rain coming
Tropical storm
Writing it down
Living it up
Poetic inspiration
Coming from time to time
This jam like a jam journal
Is what it is
Life, all in the livin
The doin
Puttin it down
Really secondary
Although we do like
Milking the cow
Ride on Josephine
All hail Mongolia!

Reflections
Wandering existence
Out there in the distance
Salvador Dali sleeps
Enchanted
A vulture checks him out
So still in meditation
The ice cracks the diamond
Rivers flow beneath glaciers
Wolves surround the shrine
Heart sutra a starting place
He held one flower up
Translations
When do you stop
Poetry writing
Where do you go
I'm not asking questions
Nor looking for answers
Snow leopards chase blue sheep
Grazers, rutting and fucking
Locking horns
Mountains move
Mountains remain
Shadows on high
A single feather in the snow
Sun piercing through sub zero
Far beneath there's a jungle
Filled with fright
A big bug crawled on my
Head yesterday
Simple actions
One thing at a time
A rush to finish museum
Why not enjoy
The next, the next
Always looking ahead
Waiting in line
Yet it's just the now

Rain continues
Storm breaks up
On the coast
We get a 3 day break
From Mas trabajo
Temps in fifties
Water everywhere
Sandbags at the
Lower level stores
All of them swamped
Tuesday night

Couldn't see the catoctins
On approach to town
Water towers looming
On the horizon
Just wanted some rest
I feel like red foxx
Most times
Wire covering walls
Feel like drawing
Playing cigar box
Writing it down
This thread like a jam journal
The five o'clock whistle at the
Apple plant sounds across town.....
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Amazing I bet
Lived on the ocean
In '75
Kitty hawk life saving station
Waves lappin up beneath my room
Sun risin like an orange ball
It was amazing
Summertime
Driving pilings in the beach
90 feet up in the air
Swinging and swayin
In the breeze.....
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

The heat goes on
Cold n damp night
Seems to be no in between
Copy of San Francisco beat
Interviews with SF poets came
Today, I had a copy in the 70s
Reading Peter Matthiessen zen journals
On kindle now, really good stuff
Dogen and Seung Sahn on me list too
Been writing some poetry
Puttin it on FB
More response there I feel
Cecil does it too
I see Doreen on AT and you
Ain't that critic a real piece of work?
Jammin
Dreaming of beaches
Realms of sand
Waves
Hotter than hades
Then jumpin in for the
Sink or swim
Year of the shark
Hurricane headed out
To sea
Back in the mud on the job
Hittin the home stretch
Just gonna enjoy what's left
Finish line in sight
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

been reading Ryokan more these days
i have a slim collection of his
read it many times
but yesterday while
splitting wood for the fire
a poem of his came to mind -

"In paddies among the mountains
girls transplant
rice seedlings
the sound of their singing
drifts up from far away"

I was mid-arc with a 9 pound maul
coming down on a chunk of hard dry maple
when this poem of his came to mind
the maul hit the maple & bounced off
as if the wood were hard rubber
the maul made a mark
at the point of impact
but no split
not even a crack
i made several more attempts
without success
set the maul aside
and walked across the lawn
to the river to watch
the fallen leaves it now carries
follow its current downstream
I walked back to the woodpile
picked up that piece of hard maple
and with a felt tip marker wrote on it
"Ryokan Rice Planting Girl"
and set it aside
some cold night here in the near future
I will place that chunk
on a bed of glowing coals
close the airflow down
and go to bed
that wood will warm all around it
all thru the night
and next morning its coals
will ignite new wood
and the songs of Ryokan's rice planting girl
will not be forgotten
I thought I knew Ryokan
but, as usual, I knew nothing at all
I read his poems now
with new eyes
my aging heart listening
to the songs of long ago long gone rice planting girls
drifting up from far below
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

2 weeks chopping
Hope it's been cool up there
Rainy and cloudy here
No Joaquin
Heading for Bermuda yes he is
Back to the mud mañana
At jojo's bar this morn
Brunch, Cajun omelette
Smothered in chalulla hot sauce
Wahoo!!!

Jammin
Football in London
Early am.
Screwdrivin'
Almost noon

If you could see
My face
Go, to the window
Pure balderdash
Butterscotch pudding
Even the late arrive
Too soon
Moon rising red
Mars emerging pink
Solitude arrousing
Somewhere inbetween
Maybe it was that night
Watching the oscars
Or that shared slim Jim
Nostalgia for the everlasting
Light reigns on all of us
Capitals are made for visiting
Places like Paris and Rome
Like fire in the spring
Devalued inebriation
Fear of flying warranted
Judgements underwater
I held my nose, for the chlorine
Held my breath till I reached
The other side
Where it was all a dream
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....
