if poetry is about truth
as much as it is about beauty
you won't mind then, me asking
you to stop quoting scripture
while you're ramming something
up my ass, 'cause I'm fairly certain
the Jesus you like to talk about so often
like he is an old personal friend of yours
is just a fantasy from your demented vision
I'm pretty sure the man wasn't a hater
poor Jesus, for Christ sake man
I bet knowing you, might want to make ole JC
change his name to Bob, 'cause I mean
Bob doesn't carry the weight that mutilates,
nor Melvin, or Herman, certainly not Larry,
listen Friend, no one likes a name-dropper
I wish you would just leave Jesus alone,
didn't he suffer enough for you ?
copping a plea
copping a plea
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

Re: copping a plea
I so get you saw. We drop Jesus's name around like we know him. But those who do use it like that seem contradictory they say not to do something because it's not what Jesus would do but then they turn their backs and do exactly what they say Jesus wouldn't do. So yes I get it. Great poem!
And above me the stars align
But not yet with my own
And the night birds sing
Whilst the demon haunts this restless soul.
