The Seven Seas

Post by Brian mclaughlin » November 16th, 2015, 9:33 am

The seven seas
the human race
their waters are one
we share the same life giving blood
they have different names
we come in many colors
they are separated by continents
we are separated by religion
these differences
do nothing to change that fact
that they remain one water
and we are one human race
When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak. ~ Audre Lorde

ain't it the truth....and here we are in 2015, fragmented into all these warring groups....all these bickering groups..... killing groups...... where's the love, baby ?

I like the sentiment of this poem a lot, but I think it has been expressed many times before. What I would be more interested in would be working in bits from your life and your observations of life. You could practically turn each line into the first line of its own stanza. Make this poem feel of *you*, and it will be much much more potent.
