one of the strangest things that's happened to me in many many years....still wondering about it, as you might imagine....glad there were witnesses....not just an old man fantasizing....

i wanna go
watermelon
raging upon
unclear sights
sugar, it bottomed
out on a suicide
sunny day
oh yeah
with his kodak
camera plastered
tired on yellow
cab floor - know
he would not
follow...follow...follow..
into amplifier nights
listen to the intrinsic
hushed lullaby
on the tic-toc
rock'n cradles filled
with candy coated
trex........
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

the body refuses to cooperate
the way I envision, so I turn
to the arts to soothe and replenish
I turn to the meditations
that get one by when things seem
out of control, the places one can
visit as he bides his time and waits
for things to heal, as he waits
for rejuvenation, so I turn to friends
voices and kind thoughts, I turn to ways
to alter the consciousness that would like
to dominate if they had their way, but
fuck off negativity, set backs are part
of the grand illusion, ruts exist in every
road as nothing lasts forever, and I hope this
doesn't sound like crying, It is Not
it is acceptance, it is acknowledgement
that we can't always have what we want
when we want it, and this will be temporary
I feel, a pothole along the aging streets
of Baltimore
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

the fantasies of old men
can be intense
closer ya get to eternity
might have something
to do with that
just going along when you realize
i mean really realize
where you at between then & when
things don't have to be pretty
to be exciting
or exquisite
because the leaves are long gone
from most of the trees
i can stand just anywhere
looking into the forests
and see where every grove
of hemlocks are
every one for miles around
you couldn't miss them
even if you tried
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

the end lines
of previous
are sublime

ugh..".jammin
reading "After Basho"
by sam hamill
a haibun style
excursion through
japan

was in my old home
surroundings in. dc
yesterday, my how the
world has changed
since i was born in foggy bottom
total concrete jungle now

cycles, twists n turns
who'd a thunk it
like manhattan
dc now
tall concrete everywhere

new project " the Wharf"
mini city on sw dc channel
19 acres mixed use
right across from hains point
where i grew up playing golf

cha...cha....changes

jammin
trees barren
now
sights endless
grey n brown
acceptance
key is that
why push
in a world
where it all
ends up the same
because
i imagine
needs
i guess
inner mounting
desire
fire within
i see those branches
yet i still feel
the green
so i plan another
wire show
start a new
building project
yes a music & poetry
show is in the works
yes the energy level dwindles
but it's what i know
it's what i do
and how i survive
onward
the wheel turns
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

turning the second floor
into separate living space
need the income, hope to find
a hippie geezer like me
that won't mind the music
downstairs, won't freak out
at pungent smells that waft
under the door, a road warrior
with as many scars as I have
a pragmatist that likes to cook
a reader that likes to talk,
an outsider that dresses the way
they want, a beautiful spirit
that likes to sing and dance the blues
a laugh-er at bad puns, an artist
it will be fun screening the lookers
the chambers brothers are in my ears
time has come today
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

donkeys in asia
burro's runnin wild
a mexican thing
wafting the
everlasting
under the door
overtime confusions
overpacked funk
play by no design
willow weeps
leaves return
signs, signs everywhere
customary roxanne
alex and the 27 drias
scattered about old babylon
li po, tu fu, like estuaries
we got the funk
the wine flows
red coats then the
white coats come
magi magnificent
zorasters fire
bearded golfers
makin like pig hunters
gone fishin
no music on the
stage today
big signs
rainbow plumes
lick the patapsco shores
fairy bars like walmart
parking lots where
industry once stood
way beyond XL
this time
in all its zoot suitedness
graced by bop
and sliding into a kinda
ska rocksteady
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

tu fu
tofu
we eat them up
nourishment
rapid fire quilts
words that keep
you warm
lyrics well beyond,
outside the yawn
inside the dawning
explosions of thought
rocket launchers
from the center
the brain core that bombs
the old ways
the status quo
the quixotic tentacles
the queer quips of blah blah
the blatant attempts to paralyze
the moldy fast-food half-eaten
rise up poet warriors
throw your lances
harpoon the day
spear the night
the night is ripe
for crazy new worlds
crazy new
words
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Kerouac-a-jack
jack-in-the-boxed-ears
the new words jab
bob and weave, bob
dylan, dylan thomas
thomas hobbes, calvin
has a few quotes, curiosity
is the lust of the mind
curiouser and curiouser
we fall down the rabbit hole
what's up doc ?
scientia potentia est
hell is truth seen too late
for such is the nature of some men
ive walked some very dark alleys
by my own choosing, ive
curbed the light in my eyes
with foreign substances, but
have thrown back the shades
more often that night, read
the poker eyes of texas hold'em
made myself vulnerable to all
that might come aboard, and
somewhere there is my personal
truth, whether I see it or not
I do my best to see beyond the pale rider
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

truth sayer
never hidden
ryokan hides
from the seekers
all night
tearing at the
chest
an explosion
yet to still the
mind
to be still
just letting the
it pass by
no hurry
peaceful
rest
needed
enough time to
face the cold
come tomorrow
open up
honest and sincere
the only way
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

nothin but a
jammer
no poesy
no prosody
at least not
today
it all comes
down to jam
sticky
cold day
no trabajo
lock frozen on
construction
trailer door
chilled darkness
by the river
steady breeze
whale of a snow
comin friday
the weather
people say
winters here
no doubt about
it
time to make
sculptures
sketch
write 1st thought
jams
staying out of
politics
its just too
insane
so's football
but i succumb
to the temptation
each weekend.....ugh

basho sits on
ryokans grave
endless cycle
before's then
after's
uncontrollables
han shan disappears
rumi shines
li po reaches
for a moon
drunken reflection
tu fu caught in
the throes of
conflict
mughal poet warriors
chinese poet generals
eisenhower painted
churchill too
even george w. paints
the list goes on and on
tony bennet
miles davis
jerry garcia
john lennon
everybody paints
even basho scribbled
in ink
ramblin
jammin
layin it on
the land
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

the nights so black
up here
no lack of darkness
unwrap the wrath
nothing lasts
that's a fact, jack
tax on every haiku
i'm sure i'll have to
remove my coat
to avoid sweating
people still out
moving around
i love a good tramp
mashed or not
the yang of the zag
is obvious
you can always tell a tibetan
not by his spirituality
but by his accent
and a mongolian
by the scent of horse
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

on the heels
hoofbeats of
forever
darkest apocalypse
unearthly tuvan
notes
light on their
air
he never got to
conquer the world
ridin them ponies
all the way to
poland
like space puppets
bows that shoot
500 yards
all hooves off the
ground
around the great wall
there is no secret
elixir
so he plants his seed
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

ruminatin' on rumi
placin' bets on plato
eatin' greek yougurt
thinkin' 'bout the greek skeptiks
a good manual
fer yer back pocket
mind all over the place
but mostly diggin' the old hipsters
socrates was badass, would have
loved to have some ouzo
wit aristotle, two dudes
philosophizin' , eatin' spanakopita
hangin' low, gettin' high
I think I'd look good in a toga
hide my belly fat, air out all
the private parts, the ideas
the notions of grandeur
yeah, wish I had me a time
machine, ex machina baby
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
