doodle of the sun

Post by saw » May 24th, 2016, 9:27 am

peppermint tea steamy, aromatic....
too hot in the thermos
for the tongue that waits
like my mind for inspiration

the pen is cradled
'tween the thumb and the fingers
of the trigger and the ring,
the assembly doodles aimlessly in the margin

I sketch a stylized sun
with sunglasses and a wry smile,
add electrical waves zigging and zagging
from the head like kinky octopus arms

I write two words below this new sun
"emit" and "time", the same letters
forward and back, I'm stalling for a real poem
I'm waiting for my burning tea to cool

settle down enough for lips that crave
some brilliance....I take another sip
still too hot, ...still... no masterpiece
I let the hand do what it wants to do

words appear then go like an etch-a-sketch
disposes of inferior work with the wave of a hand.
time moves on as determined as it ever was
and I am must accept.....I am no brighter

at this moment.... than a doodle of the sun
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

"I am no brighter... than a doodle of the sun."

Quite quotable!

I will remember that line!

I use refrigerator magnets with art terminology
They can also be dropped into a pile
Of words
I hear a famous poet used to write on tinypieces of paper in her apron
Pick up trash today
My refrigerator says
Things like
" this is real"
Smudge the absurd etc
Then there is painting collage and-
I have not used scalding mint tea as a muse
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Interesting desire
to illuminate
then the doodle is art unnamed
because it came as a bastard
the masterpiece is in the marjin
it is the letting the gift arrive the masters skill
still to ask how to become the master is only answerd by
it does not matter
the creative soul allowed to play
the best garden I ever grew came up in my compst pile
I just took the time to water it
smile
love you all
