Innocence Faded

Post by mtmynd » October 14th, 2016, 5:46 pm

~-innocence faded-~

when i had my innocence

the world glowed with wonder

beauty stupified my mind

all inconceivably conceivable

but the brush of life

stroked the pallet

perhaps too incessantly

and the canvas paled

threads bared by repetition

and the weakness of beauty

faded with the passage

time circumventing clocks

limited life

tick... tick... tick...

it proceeds until the

batteries failed

the electricity sputtered

and the axis no longer

held the delicate balance

realities defined by minds

challenged by mystery

the innocence no longer there

but the equator has changed

and the melting snows
 have
flooded the plains
 bringing a
sadness to deserts
 that once held
180 degrees
vision fully encompassing

the outer perimeters

now floating without direction

and the pale horse drowns

with ne'er a whinny
 nor a whine
he sinks
down into the blemished fields

a spartan graveyard disrupted

by the comic flatulences
roaring
the last of their audible notes

the ears no longer hear
the music of yesterday

...the sounds of future

the eyes no longer see

limitless boundaries

the horizon halts
...
borders have been built

and the choices narrowed

the touch no longer excites

to the warmth of hu'manity

to the tactile expression

of living
now thread bared

and the woven comforts

have become jagged and worn

this is the end of yesterday

this is the end of tomorrow

and the present has become

a stillness of snow
blanketed coldness....

feverishly i try
to regain those feelings
but deep down inside

all those past memories died

and loose alleyways meander

thru the tattered veils of despair

seeking nothing with vacant eyes

this is the way I felt after my marriage collapsed - that before I could move on I somehow had to get back to where I was before - that marriage had been a wrong turn, and I needed to return to a known checkpoint in order to proceed to my destination - whereever that was.
