the surrealists were the astronauts of poetry
surrealism was the peak of poetic thought
the Beat poets were really recycled surrealists
surrealism penetrated into the depths
of the human condition, which is the question
what does it mean to be a human, the poets
and artists painted pictures and wrote poems

philosophers like Plato tried to arrange our condition
so that we may see the shadows on the wall of
the cave, to see ourselves seeing, and he was concerned
that art could be used to keep us blind, rather then
to open our view, but isn't that just a way to keep us
from our most human condition

the surrealists did not see art as some embellishment
of the reality of the people that created wars
they saw art as the way to rid us of this madness
the poets were the on the front of holding up the sign
to tell us like Blake said
" the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom"
this is a reminder not of how the powers that be
got their power, it is a clue on how to write poetry

poetry must see the excess that the human condition
is mired in, the poet will wear the coat of shit, the
language we are used by, so then poetry is the language
that runs through our lives like a mythological river
through everything we are told about our condition
does this mean that the dream is not hidden in reality
but that reality is hidden in the dream, the sur-reality

surrealism confronts the confusion
holds up the banner of objective chance
the poem can start anywhere and end anywhere
the universe is in the middle of everywhere and nowhere
surrealism was not a religion, it was not here to conquer
nature, they were an anti-secret society society of poets
and artists, who found objects of art at the end of time
all this was happening between two world wars
all this was before unidentified objects became common

they were doing occult research but it was all to find art
in our world to see the art that was everywhere around us
today we hardly know they existed, some people know
of Salvador Dali, do they know that Picasso was a fellow
traveler of the surrealist movement in the beginning

the psychopaths that have been running this planet
with their secret societies are not surrealists
they are not artists or poets, they have no love for art
they use black art to perpetuate their control over us
the surrealist were aware of this but they were
a movement of artists and poets that wanted to make
art central to our lives, so as to ward off the wars on art
