Welcome to the Variations Forum
Welcome!
Glad you showed up. And here's how it works...
You have written something. You are willing to throw it into the spotlight and have others play their variations on your theme. They take your piece and re-write it. They might edit, play up a phrase, change line breaks or words: however they see fit.
If that describes you, or inspires you to try, come and start a new topic. You post and others will see how your muse moves them, and then post their variation.
May the energy flow.

This sounds like fun - we called it "tagging" at AC, and just riffing at IPP. I'll start things off. One of the best at the latter site was a volley of haiku about our 1st cars. Mine ran something like
free wheelin'
roach in the ashtray
saab 93

saab 93

Re: Welcome to the Variations Forum
Sasha, I think what you're describing is what we call jamming ... like in our Word Jam events and the GO forum.
But I think this idea is a different idea (as I understand it). I'm thinking I understand it as something different than riffing or jamming or tagging.
Judih and SooZen were talking about it in another thread which inspired the formation of this forum.
I think the idea is that the original poster posts some piece of writing and then the person who replies to it edits, revises, or rewrites the other person's writing using his or her own style.
Did I get it right, Judih?

Re: Welcome to the Variations Forum
Yes, dor!
Variations on the poster's theme.
I'd take your saab, sasha and re-write it. Your theme, your style in my way. I might simply edit, play with punctuation or line-breaks, according to my own breathing pattern. I might pare down a sentence or up a syllable count, re-vamp a phrase. Who knows.
maybe after coffee this would occur. At the moment, I'm fairly illiterate.
In any case, let's start a new thread for each original piece, so that we can watch the action
bloom, nuance, dare

Okey dokey!
Looking forward to seeing what this will engender. Thank you judih and Doreen for the new space. Instead of writing new poems or new stories, I would (and will) post some stuff that is my archive that could use some "variations..."

Still not much interest. Oh well. I think this one is destined for the archives where the forums that didn't last are filed.
